Default Interest for an Interior Motion Sensor

Well since i think i can pull this off... How much interest is there for an Interior motion sensor upgrade?

Also may be available with a "beep on lock/unlock" feature with ability to customize your own type of "beep" sound

If enough people are interested, and i can pull this whole thing together, i will start putting out a "Plug-n-Play" kit

Also, a "beep" only kit can be put together..without the motion sensor option

Sounds great. No beep for me though, I love the silence. And agree with the Euro-noise regulations. Why a beep can people not here the door locks engadge>

Well the way i am planning to put this kit together, it would not make any permanent changes to the car... so if something does go wrong in the future with another part of the car, you simply pull the cable, and it's like it was never there in the first place...

easty, i guess you are right, but sometimes when i am in a hurry or dealing with a lot at once, then you sort of walk away with the thought that you locked your car, and then panic and walk back to make sure. 99.99% it is locked in my case, but the love for this car makes you walk those extra steps just to double check.

So how about instead of the "Beep" we can make is say stuff for you.. Like, "Easty... i'm locked" or if you like a more exotic feel, you can make it talk in Japanese

If the install is straightforward, I'm interested.

Tell me about it on the one hand i can see where the manufacturers are coming from why should they pay for damage caused by what people do to the cars but on the other hand i don't think its fair if we where to replace the air filers in our cars and then the COMAND went wrong it clearly has nothing to do with the filers why should we have to pay

noregret nice idea making it plug and play sound like you got it planned out real well in the UK the cars have the sensors fitted and i have SDS computers at my disposal for the beep thing so it wont be of much use to me but for those who don't have the sensor or as you say want the car to talk to them on locking you seem to have got yourself a market do you know why your cars don't come with a sensor?

I wish you the best of luck my friend and congrats

Dan

Default Motion Sensor Already Built In?

I may be mistaken, but I seem to remember that the motion sensor is already built into the overhead unit but disabled for the US and some other markets. There is a thread on BenzWorld at http://www.benzworld.org/forums/r171...ghlight=motion
Go past the posts that confuse interior motion sensing and moving or towing the car and Miroj talks about the Netherlands feature which will activate the interior motion sensor as well as a locking chirp.

I'd like to know more about the possibility of simply turning this feature on rather than installing new hardware. Can anyone verify the information in the BenzWorld thread?

gmabli, i thought i read in the forum that the console comes in 2 version, 1 with the sensor, the other without. If it comes with the sensor, then you should have the switch near the roof control. If not, then you have neither... at least as far as i undersood. Well my modules should arrive tomorrow, going to give it a go, see how it turns out.

gmabli the locking chirp can be turned on easy just ask the dealer to enable it with the SDS but if you don't have the button on the console like noregret says then i am afraid the sensor is not installed in your car if you want one you could either go the Merc way or give noregrest's unit a shot

That makes sense. I'll be curious to hear about/see your modules when they arrive. I guess that means that one would have to replace the switch assembly surrounding the roof control and wire it accordingly.

Ok, looks like the "core" parts arrived. I didn't order the "beep/talking" module yet, since i don't know if i can get this to work yet. Once i see an output triggering, all things stable, then i will order a beeping device.

Quite a lot to put together here, so stay tuned...

well i made some progress. Thus far here is what i got working:

The trigger works from ONLY either the lock or the unlock button to activate and deactivate the motion sensor.

I need to figure out how to get the unlock to get it to disarm.

I could leave it as is, but that would mean the following:

car is unlocked : hit lock key (arms motion sensor), then to unlock, hit lock again and then unlock to open the car.

for those of us with the Roof Module,
-car is unlocked roof up, Opening Roof : hit lock key (disarms motion sensor), then to unlock 3times, to open the roof.
-car is unlocked roof down, Close Roof : hit lock key 3 times (arms motion sensor) closes roof, and car is locked.

basically, before locking or unlocking the car, one would have to hit the "lock" key to either arm or disarm the motion sensor.

This seems like a pain to do... so i am working on a better solution.

Thanks everyone!
I know that i always turn to forums for questions on various things. And before i sort of knew what i was doing with these mods, i would spend hours researching and asking quesitons.

Now i figure i would return the favor, and bring some new ideas of my own to the table and help out with what i already know

Also, the fact that around me 90% of the custom shops wouldn't even touch any of my cars or would quote me crazy prices for work, encouraged me even further to learn and do it on my own.

HAHA, i remember at one shop on Rt46 here, the guy said to me "hey, if you want to mod a car... get yourself a civic"
