Default Six Disc CD Changer - Who Uses It?

I've read a lot of negative press regarding the MB six-disc CD changer. My 2005 SLK 55 has it. I was cleaning the car today and decided to check it out. I loaded six of my favorite CDs. I have the Command HK and I was really impressed. I've read where others have actually removed the changer due to lack of use. For those that have the multi disc changer, what do you think, and do you use it? I really like satellite radio, but I'll get plenty of use out of the CD changer.

My daughter uses hers all the time. She frequently burns CD's and is always putting them in the changer. This was she gets to listen to music she likes and may not get to hear on the radio.

I am not sure why you would need one. If you have Comand you can burn your own colelction of MP3 songs on a DVD and you have 4 giga of music.
If you have a large library you can use a double layer DVD and you will have 8 giga! This means that you can cross europe twice without listening to the same song LOL

1st. I´m lazy
2nd. I´m using the APS50
3rd. I can not accept this horrible prices for car navigation

I´m using the Changer as a CD grave. All the time I want to change the CD´s but I forget it all the time. On a SLK meeting I´m driving with the SL Antenna and I´m listening to CD music because of the bad radio.

My 6:
Uriah Heep - Salisbury
Eric Clapton - one of the last
Gerry & the peacemakers - Best of
Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel - with "Sebastian" (my favourite song)
Coldplay - the first famous with "Clocks"
REM -Best of

Being used to the solution in my other car (removable hard drive cartridge in the trunk, seamlessly controllable by stock head unit, voice prompt playlist navigation, support for MP3 and many other audio formats), I couldn't bring myself to buying MB's much inferior CD changer. I just don't see myself wasting precious glovebox space for this thing.

If I had it, these would most likely be in it:
  • Cujo: Adventures in Foam
  • Cake: Fashion Nugget
  • XTC: The Big Express
  • Brian Eno/David Byrne: My Life in the Bush of Ghosts
  • Pixies: Doolittle
  • Tom Waits: Franks Wild Years

huh?
the CD changer actually plays MP3?

I thought only the in-dash reader does. I tried loading a MP3 disk in the changer and it shows an error message.

what gives?

Interesting responses. Most everything I had read had been negative. It's good that those that have the six disc CD changer, use it, and are happy with it. Everyone has some favorite songs and CDs. It's a welcome addition to Sirius satellite radio. Can anyone clarify, which model years play MP3s. Thanks for the input.

It's better than I anticipated. Generally, I don't like used vehicles. To sum it up, it's PERFECT!

I seldom use mine. It think it does play mp3's (provided they are burnt on a cd, not a dvd) but the title will not show in the display. I prefer using the dvd-player to play mp3's.

The original one in my car did not but i replaced it with an 06 unit and now i can use MP3's in it also, same as the headunit no ID3 but it does display the filenames on the screens.

Its real handy if you have a DVD in the headunit and 6 CD's full of tracks in the CDC thats a lot of music

All this technology has my head spinnin. I tried for three hours to git a cd to do something and still nothing. Just wrinkled paper. None of my certificates of deposit say anything about music, did I buy the wrong kind? Now that is red neck humor ya'll.
