Default How do I remove the battery?

So, I've located where the battery is, purchased a new one and went to remove the old one and the tightening screws/nuts on the battery terminals are not accessable with a standard wrench. I tried using a 5/16 nutdriver but that was too small. I don't have the correct tool to access those nuts to losen them. Can someone please tell me what the right nutdriver size would be or if a wratchet can be used?

Remember, the majority of fastenings on the SLK (and all european cars) are metric. It would be worth your while picking up a metric socket set plus a set of metric combination spanners (wrenches) to stop you 'chewing up' nuts and bolt heads.

10 mm seems to be the most used size on cars of all makes. Its the spanner of socket I can never find as its always out on the bench somewhere )

what's a kilometer? LOL!!!

From the tv show, the big bang theory:

Sheldon: "Ethyl alcohol. 40 milliliters."
Penny: "Iím sorry, honey, I donít know milliliters."
Sheldon: "Ah. I blame President James ďJimmyĒ Carter. He started America on a path to the metric system but then just gave up. He wonders why he was a one-term president."

I spent 5 weeks in SW USA last year and I seem to recall seeing distances in kilometres somewhere.

California perhaps?

I actually like the metric system. It's much easier to add measurements together.

The metric system is so much easier as long as you are not trying to compare it to standard. We americans will hold onto our 16ths and 32nds to the bitter end. Kilo's, pounds, at least it's not stones...
If you are going to drive a German car you better invest in a metric set of tools. Yea I get to buy more tools..

And here I thought it was German; I thing we called it Zoll (equivalent to inch); but then again, at that time we had every damned measurement you could have imagined.
And none measured the same from town to town
I guess we consumed too much Beer

I find it amusing if I talk about pounds shillings and pence. The youngsters look at me as though I am talking a different language. When I started work I was paid two pounds ten shillings and nine pence LOL

The British fractional measurement system requires mathematical sophistication and some thoughtfulness. The metric system is for math midgets and does not require abstract thought!

Paraphrasing A.K. (Ken) Philpott....my very proper and slightly gin burnt math instructor of yore!
