bluetooth adapter for aux in

I would like to share a recent addition I did.

I finally found my aux in tucked behind the glove compartment.

I am a fan of the aux in rather than the integrated system because I like to have full control from the Iphone. I add and delete music everyday on my full 32gb iphone 4 and I am sadly not organized in the way i store my music. I don't even have some titles as the music is downloaded in other manners...ha ha.

I didn't want to keep the glove box open and the wires hanging all over the place so i decided to do some research.

I purchased a BELKIN BLUETOOTH MUSIC RECEIVER bundle at Fry's for $30.00 USD.

It comes with the bluetooth unit (about 1in. by 1in. and half an inch thick), wall power cord, aux cord, aux-av (for the home bose system) and a usb wall charger with cable. (good amount of stuff and cheap)

I then purchased a car charger that would support the unit at Fry's for $0.99 USD.

I velcroed the unit on the glove box wall next to the aux in, curled the aux cord (planning to get a really short one), and hid the charger wire below the glove box panel and connected it to the aux power in the foot well.

The phone connects instantly when I get into the car and the quality is flawless.

For a cheap mod, I recommend this!

($30.00 in store through April)

And the aux in is NOT in the footwell if you have a cd changer in the glove box? Correct?

long story short...My harmon Kardon logic 7 came with it in the glove box and the cd chgr...removed to add the integrated system...then removed when sold so i was left with nothing.

took the glove box and knee airbag out to find the plug taped to the roof of the glove box.

update and pictures...

when a call comes in, the song mutes and I can answer through the phone becuase the bluetooth connections is made through "streaming" rather than "headset"

when a call is made, song is muted.

when hanging up calls, the music comes back on.

i'm in the process of looking for a smaller power source but you can't see it unless you look down into the well.

when the upload gets fixed for mac..i can load them

That is genius! I want to do this, but I can't find the darn AUX connector in the glove box!

I've got no cd changer, so I thought it should be there. Do some of them not come with one? Mine is a 2006 SLK350.

This has nothing to do with integration....only an aux in and power source.

I have done the same, works through the aux in glove box, power comes from the 12v aux below the glove box in the form of a 5v charger, hiden the cables in the under plastics and the belkin dongle is with the aux in for the comand, sounds good and allows any device with bluetooth to be connected to transmit music, i use my iphone/ipad and ipod touch, the ipad is great when you want to watch movies obviously not on the move!
Here is the link just need a 5v charger with correct connector

Cool addition.

What is the length of wire needed to go from the 12V power adapter to the AUX in when you tucked behind the plastics? Dio you think 5ft is long enough?

Simon,

Does your phone automatically connect to the device when you start the car or do you need to repair manually? I am torn between ordering the belkin unit or a Blackberry stereo gateway.

Thanks.

I'd like to do this. How did you remove the dash plastics to route the power cord from the footwell to the glovebox?

I did this, but it seems that my iphone is not automatically paring with the Belkin device when I start the car-- I need to repair from the iphone every time. Does anyone have a work around for this?
