Default This is why I love my car

Just got back from a technical inspection of my SLK, getting ready for a HPDE event next Sunday.

On the way there, nearly everyone stared at my car, one pickup truck nearly ran off the road, he wasn't paying attention. When I got there, the mechanic said, "Now that's a car, McLaren F1" I told him it's a SLK not a SLR, he said it doesn't matter. What a car! The mechanics wanted to check it out, so I put the roof up and down. Praises and compliments are always welcome, reminds us of why we brought our cars in the first place.

He's not a MB mechanic, that's for sure, he specialize in American Hot Rods, said he's father delivered two of those last week to California and it looks just like it (McLaren)

Ynot, your car without a doubt is one of the best looking SLK's i have seen. the wheel/tire combination, the lowered stance, color, etc, etc. there's no doubt why you get those looks and comments...

You really do have a nice looking car. I really prefer the looks of the SLK over the SL.

yes, it does, thanks guys again for the compliments. Just a reminder that the SLK is a beautiful car and we are all fortunate to be driving one.

Hopefully people at least know it's a Mercedes. I get the same kind of stares and compliments in my Crossfire, but a lot of people have no clue what it is. It finally broke 60 degrees here for the first time in a long time, so I washed and waxed it, then went to get gas. A random older guy at the gas station said "Wow, that's a really nice car". Of course, all I can think about now with this weather is how badly I want to put the top down in the SLK...this wait is going to kill me!

somehow the SLK really stands out. I went to Nobu in malibu for dinner, counted 2 jaguar XKs, SEVEN SL500s, one SL55, 2 SC 430s, 1 Crossfire, 3 porsches, countless range rovers...and some guy came over and asked me about my car...boy did i have a smile during dinner.

SLKs are getting pretty common around here, but they still stand out.

BTW, i don't see how someone can get the SLR and SLK confused once they seen it in person. i've had the oppurtunity to drive by and park by SLRs several times. i see the similarity, but no way a car guy could get the 2 confused. MAN i love the SLR...and my SLK.

There isn't alot of SLK's in Colorado, there's a few w/o the AMG kit so it's rare to see one around here. Colorado isn't like California where SL and SLK's are a dime a dozen.

You'll be surprise, alot of BMW guys get them mistaken as well. The SLK does look alot more expensive than it actually is.

Ynot, I'm glad that your SLK is on the road again. I'll have to wait about another month, and I'm getting a bit impatient! Happy driving! Dinoman

always a great feeling when people share their appreciation for your car with you.
your car is a special slk, very tasteful car, which has been modified to perfection. obviously it is a hear turner and it is a great thing that you can enjoy it.

Amen to that! And I too believe your SLK is one of the most beautiful in this forum. As a rule, I don't care much for third-party modifications but I love everything you have done to your car. BTW, everyone here seems to have great taste.

It's getting near, swap my wheels/tires yesterday, the stock five spokes were dirty but it took only 15 minutes to clean all four, takes me 15 minutes to clean one DCR wheel.

I went to Matsuhisa in Beverly Hills a while back. The lot was filled with Bentleys, Ferraris, a Gallardo, etc. The valet put my SLK in the prime spot up front.

The other day I was stopped at a light and a guy in the crosswalk stopped and took a picture of my car with his phone. Of course, this might have had something to do with my stunning fiance in the passenger seat, but the car got the attention first.

Oh, how shallow I am, and how much fun it is!

Ynot, your car is beautiful. IMHO it has a very tough and aggressive look and there is something very exciting and powerful about such a manly looking car as your. (I hope you are a man!)

YNOY you have set the bar for others to go for, great car. I once got stares with my E type and enjoyed the attention. Now I enjoy the inner attention I feel when driving a challenging road and feeling the machine blending with my senses. The SLK does that just right.
