Default Some Questions

Hi All, I have really enjoyed my first week with my new SLK55. I have a couple questions you all might be able to help me with. Here goes.

Is there an online store to get Brabus stainless steel roll bars?
Same question for Piecha glass windscreen (US site).
Does "chipping" (ECU reprogramming) the car void the manu warranty?

And here's a really stupid one. How the heck do you turn the radio off? If I hit the power button, the entire command unit shuts off and I can't use the map. I checked the manual and couldn't find an answer to this seemingly simple operation.

Thanks all. Have a great weekend!

1. www.cecwheels.com or asked B55, he'll tell you who to talk to at CEC

2. nogret4life is your US distributor for Piecha products.

3. https://jlevistreetwerks.com/store/ to get your ecu flashed, around $800, will give you 15hp more than stock but you can kiss your warranty goodbye.

4. Turn it dow as mentioned above

As to the roll bar, there has got to be at least 30 bolts. You can call Brabus direct in Newport Beach, Ca. That should be an easy day drive.

Actually, turning the volume of the COMMAND down is not nec. the best way to turn the radio off because it means you cant hear the spoken nav instructions or the phone (if you have it)should you wish to.
A better way is to select AUX as the source from the main audio menu(just push the Audio button once or twice to get to it). This will tell the COMMAND to play whatever is plugged into the AUX input. If you have nothing plugged in (ipod etc) this will obviously be silent!

Glad your enjoying the car mate

For the roll bars you wanna get in touch with Matthew Harold at Brabus he really does go the extra mile for you, Dana (B55) recommended him to me after Brabus UK did a price hike even after all my engine work with them and he was great there every step of the way just tell him Daniel Bufton recommended him or i am sure Dana wont mind you using his name also but you had better just PM him to be sure i don't wanna go throwing his name about.

Best to have them install the things they are quite possible the hardest part of the car to work on.

As said noregret4life is your man with Piecha stuff a great guy also.

Don't chip it mate please i am begging you at most your talking a few HP unlike what the people who actually make them claim because these ECU's adapt so much to changes even hardware modifications to the board can be overcome to a large extent and software work will simply be flashed automatically by MB and then they will send you a nice bill for the work and a friendly note saying where you can stick your car (unless you want to pay them for all the work of course at $100 ish an hour).

Only good thing in the US is if you do get work done and MB void your warranty they cant completely void it so if your vario-roof starts to leak they cant connect that to the ECU and will have to fix it but because the ECU is electronic and the car is networked MB can say no drive-train warranty and also no electronics warranty so you will be liable for all the most expensive parts.

You can turn it down, change the input or press mute (its actually an off button) that will stop all audio feeds and pause if from a CD on my car the nav lady still speaks to me but that could be variant coding i have not checked.

Have a good weekend mate

I'll bet your radio comes with a fist and a crossed-leg option.
