| No, on the SLK - I think the black and yellow goes quite well with the green body colour.

| OK, here we go - driving out to Barnard Castle this morning, enjoying the dry roads, sunshine, and 350 engine (at 3 figure speeds ) - something came off a truck going the other way, there was an almighty bang, and my rear offside tyre blew out. I didn't know what had happened, so I slowed down fairly quickly. The car handled impeccably, no bodywork damage, but a 10mm square lump out of the rim - shall have to see if it's repairable, or do I need to get a new wheel.

| Nice, it matches much better with green then my silver, I like the contrast, needs some chrome lips and you are all set.

| glad nothing too bad happened mate. I had the same thing and like you said at first it's difficult to know you have a blow out. I thin if you send it to a good repair center they'll also check if it's bent. it cost me 60pound ish for a repair and they also removed a couple o scuffs.

| Hi, do you have tyre pressure control? I had a similar problem but my pressure control did not give me any warning... How did you cope with the installation of the spare? Where did you put the damaged tyre? did you have space in the boot? thanks I am glad all went well. ciao Paolo |

| I've only ever used one of those things once and I'd never do it again. Apart from the fact that tests show they increase the braking distance by up to 50%, they have to be replaced after 100 miles, and they cost a fortune. |

![]() doing about 125 - 130 mph on a single carriage way road - saw a truck coming onto the road from an intersection, little to hot. Saw something come off the flat bed, and immediately, after a loud bang (as the tyre went), and a bit of a rattle. I did not know what had happened, so I slowed down fairly quickly (not mad panic stop) to about 30mph, then gave the steering a couple of wiggles each way, which proved I had a flat/ gone tyre. From 120mph to 30 - not panic braking, but absolutely no drama. Scariest thing was changing the wheel by the side of the road, with traffic going past so fast. 3 things ... 1) The 'Flat' space saver tyre blew up to 50 psi so quickly, I was amazed. 2) The jack supplied with the R171 works superbly. 3) As has been pointed out - what the 'feck' do you do with the flat tyre - emptied the boot (trunk) into the passenger seat, then had to STRUGGLE to get the destroyed wheel in the trunk. If I'd had passengers, and luggage, I would have been struggling. Shall try & post a piccy of the damaged wheel.

| I put the tyre in my spare seat. Lucky i had no passenger. ![]() one note of cation mate. once that thing is used and plopped back into the hole its pretty much impossible to get it out again. U need something, i'd say a jimmy(knowing most people are like wtf) but you need something to lever the tyre infront of the plastic lip to lift the tyre out. I tried for 30 mins before getting a crowbar and then it took 5 secs. it doesn't need a lot of force it's just impossible to get your fingers in there to push the tyre in. They must use some kind of vacum pump to get the tyre to compress so much from the factory.

Actually thought bout that - htf do I get the 'spacesaver' back in the well - or - - - are you only meant to use it one time ??? p.s. I'd call it a 'jemmy', not a 'jimmy', but you'd need one.
