Do you mean the rear wind blocker. It helps a bit, Obviosuly not like the plexiglass hard screen. But I found it also really hurts my rear vision, which I found impossible so i couldn't use it. as a biker i need to see everywhere..

Before I bought my 32, I test drove a 350. Before I got out of the lot, I asked the salesman to remove the mesh screen for safety (visual) reasons.

Welcome Tomek48.

I tried the rear cloth windscreen and was not happy with the very dim or dark rear vision, and ordered the OEM plexiglass instead. The OEM plexiglass one looks very nice and is definitely an improvement over the cloth windscreen. You can save about $200 by ordering from a German dealership (including shipping).

Is the leaning tower of Pisa (I mean watertower) still there in Niles, IL?

I never liked that black screen. I don't think it really works. It does not help the AirScarf either. It makes the whole car look cheaper IMHO. A car like the SLK should have an electrically retractable plexiglass screen as standard equipment.

Oh no Zut, I disagree. The Hollywood Boulevard is belonging to a SL, the country roads are build for the SLK.

The black stocking is working but ugly. Better to use no windscreen. But the women....

Well, I get your point re Hollywood BLVD vs country roads but I still believe that the SLK can be seen as a true-blue sportscar or a smaller version of the SL. Personally, I go for the baby SL look (that's why I picked the wood option, among other things). I also like the sporty look but I don't care for a sporty feel. At my age, I need a little more comfort! As far as the effectiveness of the screen, you must understand that I live in a cold and windy country. The black screen has very little effect even when the windows are rolled up. When the weather is mild or hot, I loooooove to get as much wind as possible and I certainly don't need a screen then. That's why I don't want a permanent plexiglass screen. For my personal needs, the best thing would be a very efficient screen (preferably plexiglass) that I could very easily put up or down.

In that case, all you need Zut is the OEM plexyglass screen.
Besides, it can easily be removed within 2 seconds!

I also didn't like the mesh screen from the very first time I saw it: when I test-drove the SLK.
So, the plexyglass had to be the first thing I bought for my SLK and I think it's a must-have item.

here's a link to ebay from an old post: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Windschott-Mer...QQcmdZViewItem

Sometimes available, sometimes not. By German parcel post, it takes 2 weeks.

The black mesh wind blocker works but visiblity is aweful, especially at night, I used it sometimes when it's really cold.
