| Hey all, went into mb service this morning for an lof (oil, lube, filter) and also for a brake inspection and the recall ecu software upgrade. After 2 hours, I get my car back and in looking over the maintenance sheet, it stated for the ecu software upgrade recall: open campaign#200611002 ecu cause ecu camp correction cannot perform at this time - software faulty I asked for an explanation and my service rep stated that just this morning, service centers were informed not to perform this ecu software upgrade recall as there have been too many reports of more harm than good by performing it at this time. I live in Florida and was not concerned about the cold weather starting issue associated with this campaign. The rep said that if it is reinstated, i will get it when i come in for service again. So whether or not this is true I wanted to pass it on. I did read on our board of at least one member getting the 'check engine light' after having the upgrade. Dan, on the brake issue, they test drove it, inspected the brakes and suspension and all was ok. i have 50% left on all wheels regarding the brake inspection. There was no noise yesterday or this morning. Thanks for your help.

| There we go we have not yet had that amendment to the bulletin but i expect it will show up on the system shortly like i said its more harm than its worth. I agree with you living in Florida your not going to have any dramas with it anyways. With that issue its a real mystery whatever the cause was at least it has now fixed itself and does not appear to have caused the car any damage so thats very good news to hear. Glad its seems OK at the moment for you mate

| That's interesting, like I said before, I never had a problem with startup before the flashed, don't really know if it helps either, since I have not start it up much during the cold weather.

| I'm still not aware of another case where the ECU upgrade caused a "check engine" problem! So far, it seems I'm the only one, with my case dating back in November 2006! Still the problem hasn't been solved, but recently I was informed by my local MB workshop that MB Germany has located the problem and there are spare parts on the way! By the way I did have some starting problems prior to the upgrade, which I still have!! It's good though that they canceled the upgrade and that jbanks15 avoided a possible very unpleasant and headaching experience. I'm only anxius to see what'll happen with my case... |
