| I have a 2005 SLK200. In Bangkok we suffer lots of rough spots on our roads. Over the past year my car has developed some noises that come from the roof when driving on less than smooth surfaces. When the top is down the noises disappear. Is there any cream or ointment that can be applied to roof joints that will soften the creaks? Perhaps some spray that doesn't take much effort...maybe something with silicone. Oh, and it needs to be available here in Thailand. The attached photo of a recent soi food booze-up has no relevance to my inquiry. |

| mb uses rubbercare on the seals of the roof. i have used the numerous rubber treatment products myself when too lazy to go to mb. just rub any rubber areas around the roof and trunk meeting places.

| Carbaflo KSP105 is the stuff to get. MB wouldn't find it for me, but BMW dealers can get it. Replaces the german rubber care products they used to use. | I presume you need to remove the old silicone based lubricant first (with the silicone remover) and then apply the Carbaflo?

| They will do it, I've had them do it twice. But when they do it, it cannot be done right as mine started to get bad pretty quickly after. maybe it's the heat here? So i'd rather have the stuff and spend 30mins doign rather than the huge hassle visiting the dealers always seems to be.

| After owning my first SLK for a month now the only thing I was disappointed with was the creaks from the roof at low speed on uneven roads, really annoying for a car of this calibre. I searched online and tried all the fixes and adjustments suggested but still the roof creaked when it was up so decided to order a Carbaflow noise prevention kit online. The kit arrived 2 days ago and after spending about an hour lubricating all the seals and stops the car is now totally silent, no noise or creaks anywhere and I am now very happy J Nige |

Thanks Eddy! Went to the dealer and picked this up. It was 64$ from the one dealer here in Hawaii! Even the parts guy was surprised it was so costly for such a small amount of lubricant. Anyway, I bit the bullet and applied it. No more squeaking and creaking! | |
