Default Happy Happy Joy Joy!!-Ordered My SLK350 Today!!

Well, today was the big day. I ordered my 2007 SLK350! Here's what I got:
Color- Iridium Silver/Red interior
7 -Speed Automatic Transmission
Packages- Premium III, Heating, Lighting
Automatic Climate Control
iPod Integration
Wheel Locks

I plan on ordering a phone, cradle, and plexiglass windscreen closer to that date my car arrives (end of March).

Thanks to everyone on this forum for your collective wisdom and patience in answering all my questions. You all are great!
And now for the agonizing wait...

Congratulations. Waiting can be a pain but at least you will be waiting during Winter. I ordered my car in April 2004 and didn't get it until the end of November. That was a long painful Summer.

Congrats, you've made the right choice, it would of been better if it was a 6sp but that's probably not very practical in DC.

GREAT choice going with the 350 and options. Love that silver, red leather interior combinations. I agree with Ynot, six speed, but it's not for everyone. That Package III includes it all. I'm not big on the iPod thing, but the integrated Bluetooth is TOPS. You're closer to getting that SLK today, than you were yesterday.

Thanks everyone. I feel like a real member of the club now. I'm still getting use to the idea that I will be driving an SLK350. It seems a bit surreal. I currently drive a '98 Acura Integra, so this is a big step up for me. Yes, I had considered the 6-speed. In fact, I was hell bent on getting the 6-speed until I drove the 7-speed automatic. My current car is a 5-speed manual and daily city driving can be a drag. DC traffic can be a real b**tch. Yes, this seems like the beginning of a good year.

The 6spd is something I wish I could of got, but since the 7g is an awesome setup, im not too dissappointed. Gratz, and like everyone said, your better off waitin now when its cold and mushy out. Good luck!

Well done on the choices, you'll love it!

I've had mine just over 2 weeks now and its awesome. Anyone I go to visit doesn't see me for very long since I'm always desperate to get away and go for a blast.
I've got the car in at work for the first time since its not very practical whilst on site. It has gotten a lot of attention, even the boss is jealous (though he wouldn't say that).

I've done just over 1000 miles now but I'm waiting until 1200 before I really open her up and have some good times.

Thumbs up

Congratulations! I also have the automatic, and red leather, and love them both. I have nothing against the 6-speed, but I commute in my car, and it just isn't worth it. I hope that your wait goes by quickly! Dinoman

About the 7-speed transmission...

I am no expert when it comes to comparing manual and automatic transmissions but I have driven a lot of luxury cars with auto transmissions in the past and none can hold a candle to the SLK's 7-speed auto. It is never sluggish even in the C mode. It responds crisply and efficiently in quick manoeuvres and it is surprisingly peppy, especially in the S mode. If you really are partial to manual transmissions, the only thing you will possibly miss is the extra exercise related to the use of a third pedal and a shift-stick!!!

Ok, I probably got carried away! I hope my friends with 6-speed manual transmissions will not whip my butt!

We'll let your wife do the whipping.

'different strokes for different folks' we can't all like the same thing, my commute to work is quick (except in blizzard like conditions) and my hours missed both the morning and evening traffic jam, this being a weekend car and toy car, I didn't want anything besides a 6sp. I understand the need for an auto, just not in my case.

For the record, I am single (no wife, no GF, no BF, nothing) and very happy that way. But don't believe a minute that there is no butt-whipping going on!
