2006 SLK 350 battery group size?

I'll soon be looking for a replacement battery for the above vehicle. I always follow Consumer Reports advice on just about every purchase I make, and so I would like to know the battery group size to look for without having to take apart the tray over the battery (the battery is not yet a goner, but I'm planning ahead).

Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks,

Now, of course, I'm so opposed to putting PepBoys 'merikun iron stuff in a Mercedes that I'd almost volunteer to transport the proper Mercedes battery down to you and help you install it. Or help you install one here in ABQ.

Your better bet, of course, is the El Paso dealer--do you know if you're in their roadside assistance area? Battery replacement is a standard feature of this service and normally the only charge is for the part IIRC. 800.for.merc

CU only gives you comparisons of the pathetic choices you have in non OE batteries. And even in the SLK the normal Mercedes practice of using a vent hose applies, i.e. you must verify any aftermarket battery provides that possibility.

I always replace my car batteries every 4 to 5 years even if they appear to be OK. I consider it good insurance especially for cold weather starting. I'm planning on having a new battery installed by my dealer this Spring.

Duo Art -

I have to say, despite perhaps an early change, I think it's worth it too. I think I'll do that. I just hope I get to the 4 years to swap it as I have had many batteries not last four years.

If it makes it, it will certainly save some headaches than going back to your car in a parking lot and not being able to start it. Plus, since these Mercedes batteries are a bit harder to find (I'm a tad far from dealer), I figure that only adds to the reason to do a regular maintenance replacement as you suggest.
