| Perhaps it's just the time of year (when many members' cars are in winter storage), or maybe it's just my lack of interest in/lack of proficiency in technical matters. It just seems lately that, with the exception of some new members who have either just bought SLK's or are seeking purchasing advice, most of the threads are about telephones, Vario-Roof modules, other gadgets and owners' complaints. The joy of ownership seems to be less prevalent, and I find myself less eager to read new entries. It might also be a function of my age, or the maturing of the group as we settle into longer-term ownership of our R171's. Anyway, a lot of the fun has gone missing, and I hope that it returns soon. On that note, let me wish you all the merriest of Christmases (and Channukah, too!), and a healthy, happy and prosperous 2007., with many hours behind the wheel. Dinoman |

| Merry Christmas to you and yours, Dinoman. I think part of it is because of the winter blues, the SLK is in the garage, and perhaps some of the "same old, same old" things that may be repeated in the forum. There were quite a few posts from Piere-Andre (FPF422) on some off-topic items. Some were funny. I find it interesting to read the different posts and am glad to learn a fair number of things (I guess the technical stuff does attract my attention, even though I consider myself technically challenged especially the mechanical part of it). The process (at least to me) was the "fun" part, the information and tips that I get or learn is icing and whipped cream on the cake.

| I agree. I would really like to know if there are any folks modifying their 350's similar to the Nissan 350Z. I want to smoke my friend who has a Stage 3 S4 Audi at Texas Motor Ranch. I think I can beat him because of turbo lag, but not on long straight runs. |

| Elite SLK World Member | I think for many of us "old timers" most of our questions have been answered in the past. As for "are we still having fun?" I'd like to relate a series of experiences that I had last week. The weather was unusually warm in Chicago for early December so I took my SLK out of storage for a few days. Every day at least one person and once, three people in the same day comented about what a fantastic car I was driving. When I told them that it was a hard top convertible, every one of them was amazed. I can't speak for anyone else but after two years of SLK ownership, I'm sure having fun. Best wishes to all for the Holiday Season. |

| Weather may have a little to do with it, but then again the car is a hardtop. Nothing wrong with this, but it has more to do with the age and makeup of the members. In general, all MB forums are slow. In the meantime, other car forums like BMW or whatever else are quite busy. |

| Dinoman, you're so wise and perceptive. I agree, things sure have been slow on the MB forums. I attribute it to the time of year. Especially with Christmas and cool weather, many are concentrating on other activities. Eddy, the BMW and Corvette forums are more active primarily due to the sheer volume of members. I use to frequent the Corvette forum. A lot of good information and just as many post just agreeing, with little information. I enjoy, and look forward to checking the MB forums several times a day. The more MB information and tips, the better.

| I love EVERY time I drive the SLK. I haven't had any problem, so there is nothing in that way to talk about (other than the problems I had getting my roof module in). This week is my wife's week for the SLK so I have had to suffer ![]() A couple of weeks ago I went to the Wendy's drive through. When I picked up my burger the girl said, "That car is my DREAM car! How much did it cost?" I quoted her a range and she said "I guess it will have to stay my dream car." Just another story among many that I never got with any other car (though the SLK 320 got a few good comments) that makes me appreciate and enjoy my SLK. But there really isn't anything that I would really change about the car. Only minor stuff. Like the improvement the roof module provides, etc. But this isn't a car that I look at and say, "Man this would be better if I just modded X." I look at it almost daily just to admire the lines and anticipate the next drive. I suspect that is true of many members. We just love it the way it is and we aren't having problems. |

| still loving it but hasn't been cleaned in 2 weeks and is filthy. dark nigts and wet weather makes it impossible. the wipers aer too slow to cope with heavy rain also. however a smile returned to my face this morning in the ice, the slk is seriously tail hapy, which made for great fun, but also very dangerous in the wrong circumstances.think i need a 4x4 for the winter. |

| What? I have been through some pretty heavy rain and did not think they were too slow. I assume you did put them on continuous wipe on high? It just occurred to me I have the rain sensitive wipers and perhaps not all SLKs come with that. Maybe the others don't work as fast? |

| Same stuff overall, just more traffic in general. Well after driving the same car for awhile, I no longer check the general car threads anymore as it becomes a bore. The threads/posts that get my attention are offtopic, comparison threads along with general performance modding threads. |

| Still loving it! so much so that I: clean rims twice a day gel tires once a day clean windows twice a day vacuum once a day leather treat the seats twice a week wipe car down once a day wash car once a week wax car once a week anal compulsive? oh yes! 27000 miles in 19 months as for the wipers, i noticed if when cleaning the dash and you do not clean that little bulbous red device near the bottom center of the windshield, when you do use the wipers on automatic, they will not realize the intensity of the downpour. did i just make that up? happy holidays!

| YES! i am still having fun. i have learned a lot in my brief months on this forum. even when there isn't a lot of new car related material there is always something entertaining. one of the things that i have enjoyed most is communicating with and learning from persons from such diverse cultures. the forum itself has not been stagnant either. bill has continued to add features and extras that have kept it fresh... |

| Elite SLK World Member | I know that politics aren't allowed on this forum but I'll make a suggestion that I think will pass the censors. In the two years that I have participated in various SLK forums, people from many different countries and of different religions have comunicated in friendship. Perhaps the solution to world problems is to make all national leaders drive SLK's. Then they would have something in common to talk about. It couldn't hurt!! |
