| The car has 1000 miles and I would like to change oil and filter around 2000 miles . I am not yet good enough to perform it at home. The local dealers charge well over $100 for this kind of job which seems to me a little bit excessive. Does somebody know a shop (competent with the SLK) in the West Palm Beach area? Thanks in advance for your input. ![]() |

| Nope. I've asked MB, only the first "acquaintance" is free and nothing is performed there other than a quick check from the OBD.

| Not any more. Maintenance stuff was include with my SLK 320. I was disappointed to learn that was no longer the case with the SLK 350. Seems kinda cheap of them to me. Really, aren't we paying enough extra dough for the vehicle in the first place that they have to scrape a few more dollars out of us? |

| Yeah, I got mined changed at 4000 miles for $100, expensive but I rather let the dealer do it right then to let somebody else do it wrong for less.

You remove the drain bolts from the car all the oil will come pissing out at you once it stops put the drains back in remove the one bolt from the filter holder the tops pops off pull out old filter insert new one stick the bolt back in maybe a little oil on the filter just to wet it but not much check everything is tight pop open the filler and pour in the oil. Longest part is waiting for the oil to exit that takes forever and a day.

| I was checkig the car manual and says that slk 05 and above oil change at 13,000 miles or once a year since is synthetic oil., Mb dealer in miami bill ussury will charge over 200 for oil change, check fluids, etc. I got a 05 slk 350 with 4990 miles and have not had an oil change yet, planning to to it. good luck. |

| Interesting no one questioned the need for changing oil at 2000 miles. This is obviously a personal choice, but I don't see the need at that early stage. I'll side with MBs decision to change the oil at the 13,000 mile mark. Full synthetic oil is both durable and some what expensive. I'll comply with the warranty requirements.

First, it was not the question, Second, as you correctly mentioned it, it is a personal choice. But I agree with your comments made in your last three sentences. I do not even question them | |
