Default ECU recall on 350 and 280

From SLK280DS at another forum: "In today's mail I just got a recall notice for my '06 SLK 280. The software for the Engine Control Module needs to be updated to fix a problem with the fuel/air mixture that can cause problems starting the car in cold weather. The recall is for 2005 - 2006 SLK-class, C-class, CLK-class and E-class models. Service Campaign #2006-110002. Anybody else get this? Is it for 3.0 Liter, 3.5 liter and 5.5 liter models? Or just some of them?" Another member got the letter and he has a 350.

Did anyone from this forum receive the letter?

200K, 280, 350 if memory serves me correct.

Won't get any for the 55 its bulletproof been about for a good few years now and fully developed nothing new in the engine side of the software for ages.

No letter today, but who knows ...?

I think it would be interesting to come to know whether the cars had been to a service yet. As my 350 was one month ago.

We have not had the recall notice at the shop long so i am not sure how far it goes back but we normally get stuff within a week or 2 of the dealers to be fair to MB.

Maybe your car will already have had the work done to it during the service

I just dropped off my 2006 SLK 280 at the dealership for different reasons and they told me about this update and that they're going to apply it.

I'm waiting a week or two before getting it done on my SLK so that the dealership can 'practice' on some other bloke's ride first.

Ah don't worry its real painless they plug in the computer goto the control units menu and select the ME then it does all the work for them a monkey could do it.

At the end of the day if the car is running fine i personally would not mess with it the new map might be worse we have not had one in the shop yet to have a go with it so i cant say how they run afterward

So far my SLK has been flawless, no problems yet. My next service isn't due til next year so I don't really want to just make a trip to the dealer if it's not necessary.

Ynot, I'm with you. Two years without one single problem. My 350 is in storage for the winter and I won't be concerned about any ECU updates until Spring.

We got a call to take in our SLK280 to the service dept, They said it was a recall and they were just checking, This means this might be the ecu recall.

I got my letter yesterday. I'll be going in for service Friday morning, Dec 8th. I actually didn't notice anything wrong with the car. With colder mornings, the car starts fine, the engine might sound slightly rough for the first 10 seconds and then smooths out with the rpm moving from 1100 to 900 after 60 seconds.
