Hi all I'm new to the forum, and tomorrow I expect to hear that I'm the proud new owner of a 2003 SLK 230 Kompressor ! Just wanted to say hi to everybody as well as pick some big brains here -When checking the car out I noticed it was happy to rev strongly above 4000rpm while driving. However it seems to be limited to 4000rpm while stationary. Is this observation correct, or have I just put in a bid on a hunk of junk ? :-) Best wishes

Thanks everybody, the warm welcome is much appreciated ! Great Success: They accepted my offer and if all goes according to plan I'll pick him up this afternoon. (I refer to my cars in the masculine in the hope that they are more reliable :-P)It's been standing (apart from the odd small trip) for about 2 years, so I'm going to have to give it a good clean and service.

Well the first ecstatic nights driving is behind me. It was wonderful. My previous car was a 1.2 litre Micra, so as you could imagine this is a totally mindblowing experience for me. The only glitch was that one of the "side flaps" on the roof mechanism popped out when I was opening the roof. Got a fright, but fixed it in no time. I'm guessing it is a common problem, as I saw it happen on another one I took for a test spin. These cars have real class. I am sure that Borat would approve.
