What is this?

Ok, I've been looking at this thing on my windshield [in the upper right portion] for several months now and finally getting around to finding out what it is. Really concerned because a rock hauler [remember my post about my contact with FWPD?] apparently kicked up a rock/or lost a rock and now I've got a small crack in the glass below this thing.

Anyone know what this is? Thanks!

Can you place an arrow? I can't determine where specifically.

If it's the one by where the leaves are, it looks like windshield crack, which should be amenable to repair. Most auto insurance cover minor windshield repair for free (no deductible).

Sun Visor???

They flop down when the sun is low in the sky to help block the brightness.

How about a close up pic from inside and outside?

Smart to find out before removing windshield!

Ok, I'll take closer/higher res photos soon. It looks factory-installed, so I was thinking there'd be other R170's on here who would know. It does look like some type of antenna of sorts, but I've no idea what it would be for.

Did you buy this car new?
I've never seen that thing in a German or Norwegian SLK.

No, I'm the 2nd owner. I'm going to try to locate and contact the 1st owner to find out what it's for. It's apparently something he had installed.
