My wife's 230 SLK was just backed into. We need to replace the front bumper and I found a 280 Slk front bumper in the same year (2001). Does anyone know if they are compatible? We are looking for a standard, easy install without having to modify the bumper or mounting tabs if possible. The only difference I can tell by looking at the pictures would be the 280 bumper doesn't have the holes to spray the headlights down, a feature that we never use and would be fine covering over.

Ah, am I missing something? Was there an '01 SLK280?! In any event, if it really is a '01 SLK230 bumper, ************* says $290 for the one you need with the washer cutouts.
The washer cutouts seem to be the only potential difficulty. Is there a way to remove/disconnect the headlight washer squirters (sorry don't know the technical term) as we never use them. Thanks

Hmm, never tried disconnecting them - don't know a lot about R170's - did they come with Xenons? I vaguely recall that the US requires washers on cars fitted with Xenons, or maybe it the UK?! :-) One does, for sure ....
