| Hi people, I have searched on this site and others, but have yet to find a definitive answer to my question..........which is this; How do I reset my service indicator on my 1998 SLK230 Kompressor. I have tried the proceedure as outlined in the FACE LIFT (2001 - 2004) owners handbook (pdf download), AND the proceedure outlined on this site http://www.buellwinkle.com/r170/ , which appears to have the same pre face lift dash as mine. Neither method worked..............still showing - 197km ![]() I should point out at this juncture that I was a car mechanic in a past life haha, and do all my own car maintenance up to and including engine & transmission overhauls. I only mention this to show that I'm not a complete klutz when it comes to vehicles. I don't know whether THIS makes a difference or not but, this car was sold NEW by Mercedes Japan, and arrived in New Zealand as a 2nd.hand import (very common over here). Everything on the car is the same as any other RHD model, other than the under hood & door jamb decals are in Japanese. Am I missing something?, or is it possible that the Japanese Domestic Market models can only be reset by a Mercedes dealer. It's no biggie, but just an annoyance that I would like to remedy myself if possible ![]() Thanks in advance for any & all assistance. Kind regards Don B. |

| Hi And thanks livefreeordie, Ah, ok. Had been trying it with the door open. Just tried with the door closed and followed this proceedure. 1: Put key into ignition, turned to position 1. 2: Pressed and held button (1). 3: Turned key to position 2. 4: After about 5 secs there was a "Peep" sound from the dash...............BUT no display reset. 5: Released button (1). 6: Turned key to position 0 and removed key. It's a mystery............... ![]() Thanks again for the reply. |
