If the old batteries were not completely dead, put them back in and see if the door locks work. (Sometimes batteries gain a little power once removed.)

Make sure they are facing down when you put them in.

Make sure you put the correct matching batteries in ...CR2025.

Purely a guess but maybe it has to be reprogrammed by dealer?

Hope someone here with more knowlegde will chime in.

Sorry I can't help.

Hi Entrepid

I replaced the batteries in mine; you're supposed to do the reprogramming sequence described in the manual. Sorry can't remember the details but if you don't have them let me know and I'll look it up when I get home.

You can see if your batteries work by pressing the button on the keyfob and watching the little light flash -- two very brief little flashes, almost invisible, then one long flash is what mine do. The key seems pretty robust: I put mine on non-fast colours at 40 C and two hours in the tumble dryer without any problem.

Hope that helps.

Best regards,
Jonathan.

PS mine is a pre-facelift R170.
