Default 2000 SLK230 phone options?

Here is a pic of my phone mic? and garage door opener on my roof console. I guess this means I have phone capabilities????
(kind of a weird looking picture. Held camera on shifter knob.)

Is there a way to use my phone with this and maybe even hear it thru the stereo speakers???

Thanks,
SLKman

Hey there, SLKMan, I've read before that attempting to use the oem microphone with anything other than oem phone will result in less-than-desirable performance. You could probably get it wired up and used with an aftermarket bluetooth setup, but I'd hate to spend the money just to find out it has poor performance.

I don't know what kind of stereo setup you currently have, but my solution was to install an aftermarket stereo (Blaupunkt Hamburg MP57) with bluetooth capability. It's perfect for me...I've used it for a couple of months now and can't complain about it's performance in any way. When I turn on my vehicle, the stereo automatically links up with my phone and it uses the stereo speakers like you mentioned. I got it at Crutchfield for $200. Let me know if you want to see a pic of my setup.

Mike

Default Parrot CK3000 Evolution

Brent, sometime back I installed the Parrot CK3000 Evolution and had the mic on the console.

Just last week I rerouted the parrot mic (minus the housing) to the factory mic housing next to the garage door opener. It's the exact mic that is in the OEM MB mic, so it was an easy fit. And the sound is much better than having the mic mounted to the console because it doesn't pickup all the road and body noise.

The Parrot is Bluetooth. I have the control mounted next to the ignition and the "brains" mounted next to the amp under the pass. footboard.

Hey Kevin, did you happen to take any photos of that re-route job? I'm considering doing the same thing with my bluetooth microphone and have some questions for you.

How difficult is it to get to the OEM mic? Did you have to take off the entire piece above the windshield? Details, please...

and thanks!

Yes, you have to remove the windshield piece, and the side pillar panel (passenger side). And then fish it to the floorboard (that's where I installed the Parrot) It's not difficult, but if it's never been off, you might want to have some goop available to reglue the clips as mine came off the very first time I took it apart. Seems MB used some pretty cheep glue originally.

These are the only pics I took, sorry (hine sights 20-20, huh?).

You don't have to remove the glovebox, I did for repainting purposes.

The picture on thr right is to show you need to install a couple of 100 ohm resisters so the sound is not distorted coming out of the Bose OEM amp. This was the alternative to buying a $150 harness. ($.25 or $150 ... hmmm)
