| I'm not sure if you are dealing with a 170 / 171 but it sounds like a 171. The antenna should just hand tighten, if the base is loose best ask a dealer cause you have to get it just right to stop it leaking.

| I don't understand if we are talking about the stubby antenna then you just turn it with your hand, if its the mounting plate its a PITA

| I assume you are referring to the base molding that seats against the fender. You'll need to remove the liner in the trunk to tighten the base molding of the antenna. Use a putty knife and pop the inner button, then pry the outer flange to remove the fasteners. |

| My SLK 350 also came with a little plastic disc that had teeth around the outer edge. This can slip over the antenna and affords a good grip to tighten it also. The plastic piece is about the size of a quarter and looks like a gear cog that came loose from something. I found two of them in my car. One was rolling around loose in the trunk. But hand tightening probably works too |
