Default What will a stock SLK230 beat

I am not up on what cars are fastest and what ones are lead sleds, so.....

If you have raced a particular car and beat it...tell me what it was.

Often I pull up to a car at a stop sign and wonder, "Am I faster than him?"

I have never drag raced anyone from a dead stop and probably never will, but I do wonder which cars I could beat. (You never know )

Just Curious

well its not always the car that wins a good run. Usually the driver.

I've ran my 230Komp against an S500 before. Poor guy had a lot more power, but too much weight and could not keep up. at around 95 i cut it off, as we were already heading to a traffic area.

then there was a Civic here and there, but those were not intersting anymore. (also in the 230)

and even once against a pickup... i think it was an F150 Ford. Huge car... but it had to have had plenty of work done. No way it was stock. I heard what i think was a turbo BOV as he pulled up next to me. tough run though. (also in the 230)

Yeah, my son has done A LOT of work to his Honda motor. We were driving side by side about 40mph and out of nowhere he dropped down a gear and pulled away from me. Well, I had to show him who was boss. I passed him pretty quickly but I'm not sure if that counts as actually racing. I let off once past him. He was bummed out.
lesson learned...There is always someone faster than you no matter how much time and work put into your car.

I think he thought his car was unbeatable. Maybe he won't be so eager to race others now.

these aren't race cars.if you want to go straight line fast get something designed to do that.
These are however very ***y, very competent tasteful convertables. can't drive 3 blocks without getting hit on. I've been very careful with mods, because I don't want to mess with what it is,to make something less of it.

Well we now have put a Integra motor from japan with a johnson racing super charger into his honda. (apparently the motors from japan have 10 more hp than moters sent to USA.) LSD, pulleys, racing clutch, larger fuel injectors, etc, lots of motor work and a computer he uses to make him faster.

He routinly beats mustangs and vettes. I am sure he is not the fastest out there but no one has beat him yet.

He weighs less than 2000lbs and has somewhere in the low 200whp's. Not sure exactly. Last dyno before pulleys and gears was 210whp.

I have not lined up against him. I know better!

SLKman

ps. My other son with a honda that has the b16 slowest honda motor made, gets a ticket for racing!!! Go figure! LOL

SLK Man,

with just a pulley/ecu upgrade, some drop in filters and sports exhaust with larger catalytics you will be faster than him from down low and from any roll.

I dropped a Chev Lumina (5 litre) yesterday. He was quicker on the pull-away but I passed him within 200 metres.

nicely said.... I agree.

Recently though, I was surprised at how fast the 2007-2008 Audi 1.8T is. I was just an itchybit faster. But I didn't feel invincible at all. Had to just beat him with good looks

Cheers!

There are LOTS of really quick Japanese and European small cars. The new BMW 1 series is blazing fast. It's all about thrust to weight ratio. That's what Lotus has also done well over the years. They have small motors, but their cars weigh next to nothing...

Does anyone have the actual hp stats for all our various cars? 230, 320, AMG32, 280, 350, etc? I'd be curious to see those.

You really need to post up the TQ figures though, as that makes a huge difference on short races.
