Hey guys, I have got a 2001 slk320 with a whole lotta miles on it (130) and the car needs a good amount of work on it which I can handle(im an apprentice mechanic) but even tho Im good with cars, I know nothing about hooking up cars such as sound systems and all that.

I just got done with working on my bike so I have money for the car now. What I need is a good sound system. What'll fit in this hard top convertible? What do you guys have. Man Im so lazy I havent even checked the amount of space I have in there after the top is folded in...

Hello and Welcome to the forum, it is certainly great to exceed in the number of members that are subscribing to the forum.

Well with many things to fix or not its still a prestigious, luxury roadster and that demands respect.

Regarding audio configurations you can check the SLK's at cardomain to get an idea of what head units,speaker and sub woofers they use and good luck with the re-build.

Welcome 8Pack. Congratulations on your newly acquired SLK. Prioritize your work. Other R170 owners can provide help with a stereo system tips. If you're planning an expanded sound system, space will be tight. I would live with the factory sound system until I had the vehicle mechanically "sound".

What is in the car now? Do you have the Bose unit? I kind of liked the Bose system on the SLK320, though it isn't a "boom box", loud enough to wake the neighborhood system.

Yup. The car has got some nice stock piece but I do need a boom box.

As far as the car goes, I put it up and checked what it needed last friday.

1-Left side engine mount - feels like a 9 second car when I step on the gas, the front end goes up haha.

2-Oil Change -

3-Spark Plugs

4-Tranny is f-ed- Im going to leave it be. I have the six speed manual and it screws up only when I reverse, maybe not even the tranny, just the clutch, who knows I need to take a better look at it.

Left side fender, my neigbor hit it ( i got a $1400 bill from my body repair friend so that money should help me get everything done when I get it from her insurance)
I need some new headlights, the angles are looking good.
left side taillight is cracked.

As you can see, the car need a ton of little work on it but Ill have it done fast. The only problem is the spark plugs, seems I need special tools???
