Default Bipes Remote Roof Help

Hey all, or for my Texas buddies... Hey ya'll, LOL

I have ordered the Remote roof from Bipes. It all looks rather intimidating for me to install myself. The instructions make it look do-able but I could use some moral support.
Is there anyone in the Houston area that has installed this on their SLK and be willing to spend a few hours assisting me installing this?

It would be a great way to meet a fellow SLK'er.

I just bought this car in Feb. A 2000 model with only 16,300 miles on it. It is like new and I am not wanting to harm it in any way.

So if you have any advice for me, Feel free to share it.

Thanks,
SLKman

Good choice.

Yep. I bought it at www.bipesauto.com

I can't remember the price, I want to say about $350-$450 or there abouts.

Tungster... How close are you to Houston? Interested in helping me install mine. I'll make the drive to you if you have an afternoon off sometime???

I am also installing a Custom Plexiglass Windscreen that lights up when brake is pressed or when headlights are turned on.

I will post pics of it once installed.

I have not got it yet. I should get it in a few days.
Laser etched with a Light kit that makes the etchings glow in the dark.

Check out www.VanityWindScreens.com

I will upload Pics of my car with it installed once I get it.

Happy to hear you found a car that has not been driven so much. I also agree with Tungster on the BVRC, great choice!

Thanks!
I plan on putting it on this weekend. I was holding off thinking I may try another brand that is MUCH easier to install that I heard about on this or another board. LOL all the boards seem to be running together.

I also got my Custom Etched wind screen. Man does it look good too!!!

I was amazed at how thick and sturdy it is. I would guess almost 1/2 inch thick? I will have to put a ruler to it. The Etching on it is superb! I got the word designo put under the name mercedes-benz.

The colors of the led lights should match my car and i plan on hooking it ot my aux driving/fog lights so i can turn it on or off at will.

It will be a quick and easy install this weekend.

I will post pics once it is on.

Talk at ya later,
SLKman

SLKman - the Bipes system rocks, I fitted one to my 2003 R170. As you say, the install instructs look a bit daunting. I agree, all that playing around in the interior looks like hard work. What I did was run the wiring from either side of the hood through the weather seal at the top end of the engine compartment, instead of through the cockpit. Piece of cake, and the system worked sooooo well.

Pretty straightforward to fit. I mounted the unit inside the computer compartment under the PC boards.
One of the best mods Ive done
Hardest part was taking off my glasses to read the numbers on the PC connector
