New MAF = New Car for me.

Man, I must have had a bad MAF ever since I bought this car. The "Check engine" light came on for my MAF a couple of months ago but I have kept driving it since it did not seem to slow the car too much.

I put the new MAF on a couple of days ago and MAN, I feel like I am driving a race car!

The pick up and go is AWESOME! I actually feel the "push" back into the seat when I get on it.

And this is only a 4 banger. I can only imaging how those V-8's must feel.

Now I have an idea of what you guys are experiencing!

The Excitement of driving my SLK is back!

It's like I have a new car!

Had the same experience last year

Drove with a bad MAF for 8 days through Germany (max 190 km/h), changed the MAF at Sieg in Minden (Gero's handler) on the way back to Norway.
Now the ASR lights up like a X-mas tree on the two first gears, and it went 250km/h with ease....

It's about time this thing is available as just the insert w/o having to buy the entire housing at $600!!

There have been other inserts available, but they weren't original Bosch and people had some nightmare experiences with them.

I gave 503€ at Autohaus Sieg Minden. They changed the entire housing and tested the car to 231km/h - the official v-max.

But after experienced a faulty MAF, and what it does to the engine, I'd think I'd go for an original one once again. There are some parts I don't wanna "f**c around" with. I've read page up and page down 'bout MAF's in german forums, and 500€ is a fair price to avoid a lot of potential trouble.
It's also a comfort to me that a MAF (as a part) from Mercedes Benz Norway costs 547€

I saw what German Star is offering, and I believe it is the same insert that comes in the original MB housing. Both are manufactured by Bosch. I'll give them a call later to verify.

But you are right. In this case, the original is better.

The part shipped to me was the exact part I replaced.
