Default Need tire recommendations

Looks like the tread is getting a little low. If I was the one driving the car I wouldn't really worry about it yet. I usually wait until the metal threads are coming through before I think about getting tires. However, my daughter will be leaving for South Carolina in a few weeks for college and she's taking the car. I know it will need tires when she is down there and want to get them now.

I'm looking to get all season performance tires for all 4 wheels for a reasonable price. They are the original wheels so I'm looking for the 205/55-16's for the front and 225/50-16's for the rear. She's not a racing driver (although I wish she would slow down just a wee bit) so I don't need a really aggressive tire.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Have you tried www.TireRack.com to see their recommended tires?

This is what I get: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Compar...=Y&RunFlat=All

About $90 to 92 per tire, for Yokohama Avid V4S. Road hazard, installation, dynamic balancing, etc. are extra.

I got a tip from some Taxidrivers in Kristiansand(my town)

They want silent tires that are good on water, and have a long threadlife. They don't care 'bout the cost's. This happened to be a cheap tire over here, so I bought a set for my Honda. So far, they seem to be good.
I payed 1150 $ for a 205/50-16 - W set with the rims......
The tires are NEXEN N2000

On my SLK I have Fulda Extremo, they are noisy, but very good on wet.....
And almost 2K$ for a 225 - 255/17 set over here

Thanks for the feedback. I did look at tirerack to see what they had to offer. However, I also wanted feedback specific to an SLK such as handling in dry and wet (and snow), road noise, tread life, etc.... This is why I posted the question here.

And yes, she is a lucky girl. However, I think the real term is "spoiled". I'm driving around in a 1997 Accord with 250K on it.

I've had good experience with Yokohama's and Michellin's in the past as an all season tire but not specific to the SLK.
