I just recently had the dealer install the MHI Bluetooth puck. It seems to be working well, but I have found one oddity. When I turn off the car and exit, the power to the puck remains on for 1 to 2 minutes (I haven't actually formally timed it yet). In fact if I leave the arm rest consule open I can look through the window of the locked car and see the blue power lights on the Bluetooth puck. As a result my phone remains connected to the puck. If I am unlucky enough to have a call come through at that time, I can answer it from the phone, but the caller can not hear me nor can I hear the caller. Eventually the power to the puck is cut off and the phone will function normally. This issue is mainly problematic when I park the car in my house garage and go inside. I am still in range of the puck and therefore the phone remains connected until the power to the puck is cut. Has anyone else noticed this issue. I can not understand why the power is not cut once the ignition key is removed. Did my dealer install it correctly? I would appreciate if anyone with bluetooth could confirm whether they have the same issue.

| I can't explain why it works that way, but it's the same on my SLK 55 with factory/dealer Bluetooth system. One note, I installed the aftermarket Parrot Bluetooth system on my wife's SLK 350, and that Bluetooth system also remains active for a few minutes after the ignition is cut off.

Thanks It is helpful to know that my install is correct. It seems like bluetooth is in its infancy. I guess I will just have to get use to a manual disconnect before I leave the car.

Yes, you are describing the situation accurately. The puck remains active until COMMAND goes to sleep after a couple of minutes. During that time, if a call comes in you can answer with the phone handset and hear the other party but the handset microphone is inactive. The car microphone remains active and you can use the car microphone to speak to the other party. If you walk away from the car during this period, the bluetooth connection on the phone will be lost at about 20-25 feet, COMMAND will disconnect the phone and all functions are restored to the phone, even though COMMAND hasn't gone to sleep yet. Alternatively, if you will be remaining near your car and are waiting for a phone call and don't want to have to use the car's microphone during the COMMAND shutdown period it is possible to disconnect the phone from COMMAND anytime by simply pressing the TEL key to the left of the screen and holding it down for several seconds. A message will appear on the screen: "disconnecting handset" (or similar). Then your phone handset will work properly even though COMMAND is still active. Pressing and holding the TEL button again will reconnect the phone. This is useful if you have two phones married to the Bluetooth puck and want to switch between them or if you need to reload your telephone book.

Both my 2001 with a V60 puck and 2006 with the 2nd generation puck stay connected as described. If the car is going to be parked in the garage I either push the "TEL" button to disconnect, or if I remember after leaving the car, I disconnect using my cell phone disconnect function (razr v3). It was surprising when I first installed the phones, but now it's not an issue with me.

The same here. Also, I've noticed that when placing or receiving calls with three or less bars on the signal strength display on the command system, people will complain of a poor quality call (breaking up). I'm with Verizon and have a Motorola E815 cellphone. My bluetooth headset works great with as many signal bars. Is that an inherent issue with the Benz bluetooth system?
