# of copper 2000 SLK230's

I wrote to Mercedes to find out how many copper designo SLK230's were sold in the US for the model year 2000. Below is their response.

There were 30 2000 SLK230 designo copper edition vehicles sold in the US.

I'm new in Mercedes, I only had BMW's and Jaguar before, so what is designo copper edition? Is it only US thing, or European too?

Hi, Fricas and welcome. I'm a newbie too only having owned an SLK for a few months.

I'm not sure of a lot of the history of the designo edition but I will give it my best shot. (others please jump in here with additional info or corrections.) I believe in that 2000 year it was a $4000 (US dollar) option. It only came in two colors, copper or green, and it had a special interior and (found this on the web) "Mercedes-Benz now offers the optional Designo edition, which fits Nappa leather to the seats, steering wheel, console, roll bars and edging of the floor mats. The optional SLK Sport Package includes projector fog lights, upgraded tires and sculpted front and rear apron and side sills. " It was offered throughout the world so it wasn't just a US thing.

I'm not sure I would have paid an extra $4K if I was buying it new. Then again the color is really cool and if you're already spending that much money what's a few more dollars.

Thanks... But I haven't seen SLK with this package. It must be a very rare thing. In Lithuania, most R170s are basic in appearance, but there are some with AMG packets. But I actually like Brabus more

SLKman, how do I tell if I have the sport package? And what's on your passenger floor? Looks like a long screw driver.

My car says sport on the side of it and it shows sport package on the print out.

The Front, side and rear body trim is stamped/molded with AMG in the plastic.

Not sure of the address... but there is a place you can type in your Vin# and see all your options of your car.
Maybe someone here can post that link for you?

Yep, I did not see the screw driver on the floor till after I down loaded the pics. I had just put in my remote roof and had not put it back in my roller tool cabinet yet.

It's the designo sport screwdriver floor mat. AND you can only get it in Houston.

I could help with the 2000 copper designo tally...I just purchased my sport package (42K miles) from a private sale in Massachusetts and brought her home to Rhode Island!!!

Me loves it...and this site...thanks to the mods for allowing to share, participate, and your expert feedback, its so nice to have access to this information!!!

Thanks...I just waxed her and had to run to the dealership to adjust the window so it would seal when I shut the door...and of course...it rained on the way! LOL Then I dropped $117 and 1.5 hour wait for them to tell me its adjusted all the way and I need to replace the window to make it seal properly...so tomorrow I begin establishing a MB mechanic friendship search!!! And make an appt with an autoglass place called "paylessautoglass"!!!

The dealer said the plate that comes attached to the window is coming apart/seperating, which isn't allowing a proper adjustment...although I will "eventually" need a new seal, but am ok with this one for now...(sorry, don't mean to hijack here). An aftermarket window runs $210 installed, the MB window itself is $213 w/o installation/labor.
