for my daughter's 2000 SLK230. I can't seem to find any online and am going crazy. I currently have a 10 day inspection sticker and need to get the problem resolved before I go for the real inspection. Are there any online sites? What about chain repair shops? (although my concern with them is the gauge of the metal. Most of them use a thinner gauge which then wears out faster.) Thanks, Steve

If you want 100% quality and direct bolt on.... you have the following options:

1. REMUS
2. SuperSprint (dont have to trim) www.suspersprintusa.com
3. Eisenhaus www.eisenhaus.com
4. B&B (dont have to trim) www.bbexhaust.com
5. Brabus www.brabus.com (the search for the nearest dealer)
6. Carlsson www.carlsson.de (search for the nearest dealer)
7. Kleemann www.kleemannmercedes.com (search for the nearest dealer)

and there are about to other rare ones I am missing out on...... all of the above are direct bolt-on stainless system and they will all deliver the same performance, probably the loudest one would be the Eisenhaus "race" system (they do have a sport) but none of them loud enough to caus any obnoxious sounds.... I remember a member here "Kirk230" I think was his screen name...installed the REMUS system in his 230 and right afterward he even took off the resonator because he like the sound it made so much.........

I wanted to go stock. I tried autoparts warehouse and they sent me a muffler for a 2001. Needless to say it's going back. Found one online from a Mercedes dealer out in Oregon. I then called my local MB dealer. At first the parts person said they couldn't do anything on the price. They said I could speak to the manager. When I spoke to him, I ended up with a tremendous discount, much better than even on the internet which was about 40 bucks off list. It will also be here much quicker. Although I'm going to have to pay tax I don't have to pay shipping. Seems like when replacing parts it's at least worth a call to the local dealer to see their pricing. You may end up surprised. I know I was.
