It makes me wonder what they could possibly hope to accomplish by running the ad. Is it a bait and switch for another car, are they just trying to get calls and then talk to folks about buying another product (like insurance), or what?!?
OR I wonder if someone at Autotrader makes up fake ads just to make it look like they have more product than they actually do, just to get other sellers to advertise. If somone had actually called the original number, they'd have gotten a fax machine...
whats the point of showing someone elses' car and vin number and pretening you have the car for sale. . .
My question is,whats the point? anyone who meets the seller or wants to check out the car will see "there is no car" so I do not get the point, why anyone would use someone eleses car pictures and vin number...
U should call the seller and see what he says" just pretend you are interested in buying the car and wanna test drive it haha...
Also, with the VIN you could check some of the car's history. By posting a valid, but incorrect VIN, anyone looking up information would be satisfied that the car is in good order. They might not notice that the car the actually buy has a different VIN.
