OWL/Cruzer, Nope never thought of anything professional. Just having fun, love pics and when others enjoy them too it's a huge bonus.

The star looking as aggressive as usual.

I stayed in the small coastal town of yachats, as in the background.

Brian, brilliant pics as usual. Now, this might come as a shock to you, but, inside the car, just behind the handbrake lever, there are two switches - one does weird things to your rear view mirrors, the other, (wait for it) makes your roof disappear into the boot (ok, trunk). Now you might find that hard to believe, but I've seen other SLK's do that (including mine) - just never seen photographic evidence of yours doing the same

Mines the camping variant mate. It doesn't do that because my current life, including house and pantry is in the boot.

see page two of this thread for visual evidence.

When I have a base. like in santa barbara or when I had the awesome stay at the cruizer resorts I had the chance to detach the rv contents and drop the top.

so many vantage points to enjoy the stunning ocean rock formations.

South of yachats and up into the coastal highground. fantastics views of the coast and a lighthouse embedded high within the rocks.

I carry on up the coast of Oregon, There are many places I want to see inland. Although I thought I'd continue to see the coast for so long as the trip is nearing to an end. I'm hopeful I'l return to sample some of the fine Brewery ales in places like bend in the middle of the country.

The Coast is certainly unique from even california, the redwoods seem to be taking up as much land as possible right upto the see and the little road weaves an enjoying little path through this awesome place.

Driving along the coast is not something I seem to tire of, even though i've been driving up from south california for many weeks now. the sea seems to have no commonality in the way it grinds the shapes into the land.

I head inland from the coast and have plans on finding the the resting place of the Howard hughes vessel the sproose goose. As an aircraft designer it's been a wish of mine for a long time and I couldn't pass on this oppertunity.

I head inland to the evergreen museum where the ginormous(is that a word?) aircraft is located.

then to portland and drive along the columbia river which seperates the states of washingtona and oregon.

I find an old $1 toll bridge to cross this great river and pass into the last state on this fantastic journey.

Once within washington state I headed up to the southern area of the St helens national park.

The scenery really never seems to end, I find myself driving along great roads with the whole area covered in snow apart from the roads. I'm wondering due to not seeing a single car in the whole area if I'm heading towards a closed road. well with a full tank of fuel and when driving on great roads the problem of turning around and driving back ain't such a bad thing if you think about it.

I pull out of the woods and get my first sight of Mount st helens. It didn't look like all the images I had seen and I guessed the snow was hiding the features of it's recent activity. then I spotted a little map and realised the eruprtion aftermath really isn't visable from the south side.

still an amazing sight.

Trying to get round to the northside of the mountain the west was along a few lakes and some litttle towns, with really little evidence of the tourist track I expected.

A small trip up interstate 5 and a right turn to the road which leads over the north path of st helens and the tourist signs are much more aparant.

I stopped before a bridge as I noticed a educational sign to read and the bridge looked nice to shoot at.

The sign explained the bridge was roughly 14miles from the mountain and this was the edge of the destructive blast zone.

High up on the road and round a sweeping corner you get a great view of the mountain and can instantly see what you came for.

Along the road there are plenty of oppertunities for photo's as this image is far bigger than what im used to searching for.

The upper roads where closed for winter, so I hiked for 5-6 hours in towards the mountain to see in detail the landscapes caused by this awesome activity. The mountain was venting steam from the melting snow which gave a little message that it's certainly very alive.
