| I'll take a stab. The plate of the Mini says "Bean", as in Mr. Bean of English comedic fame. How'd I do? Welcome back to the West Coast.

| I think it's the Mr. Bean license plate as Brian likes humor. Notice Fisherman's Wharf on the top edge of picture.

| Yep, I tried to get the wharf sign the Car and the mini in the shot. And yep the Bean Number plate was right. In the comedy series Rowen atkinson drives the original Austin Mini. If you like Rowen Atkinson in Mr Bean yo should try to purchase Black adder DVD's. Purely Classic, Rowen Atkinson is in the class of a dying few when it comes to dry humor, Peter cook being another. Frisco is a great place I love it and been a few times. Don't have a car here if visiting. this is by far the worst city I've been to to have a car. I'll be leaving soon to head east then back here at weekend, I'll leave my car at the airport for $12 a day and use public transport.

| The Bean car reminded me of the episode where he went to buy furniture for the apartment. Got a brick, some rope, and a broom before driving home with the large arm chair. I can still see him sitting on the chair on top the car, pushing the brick off the brake with the broom, then pushing the accelerator and using the rope through the windows to move the steering wheel. Looked like all was going famously... until the hill ![]() I am a Bean fan... |

| I have been spending the last few days on the west side of the sierra mountains and 2 hundred miles east of san francisco. I really wanted to see the Giant redwood tree's in sequai National park. The first day I arrived the park ranger tunred me away as the Tree's are at 6400 ft and it had been snowing heavily on the roads up on the peaks. I found a quaint little motel in the foothills and had a relaxing evening and hped for better weather in the morning. I returned to the park gates again to be told once again it had been snowing heavily. I was pretty determined to get up there and I was going to wait another day so I hit the nearest place that could fit my car out with so serious snow driving ability. I guess this thread started on the topic of diversity and this is just pushing it just that little bit more. Anyhow I returned to the gates of the park, pai my dews and heading vertical upwards in a windy direction to the peak where the giant tree's lived. The tree's in this area are just fantastic, an array of colours I've not seen over such massive scapes. ![]() once you get upto about 6500 feet you arrive within the giant forrest, I just wanted to stop at all the tree's grab pictures. There seems to be countless numbers of these giants so much bigger than what i've seen before. ![]() I could imagine in the summer it's a fantastic drive when your not so concerned about plumeting of the road down into the canyon. But the snow certainly adds an effect that makes the challange of getting there at this time of the year seem worth while.

| I;ve drove in snow in the SLK before and relly didn't enjoy the experience. Once these mini chains where wrapped around the rear 255 and I got in the deep snow it was plenty of fun. Steering is done generally from the rear as the front doesn't really does not listen to your instructions. It was all a mess at first, Untill I realised I had to go ESP off mode so I could let the rear slide around a little without the restriction and get the car into 3rd as soon as possible to use the torque without all the high revs. Not sure who mentioned "c" mode is for snow but I'm sure they never tried it with the SLK as the car pretty much died and would move in C mode for me in the deep stuff. ![]() I grabbed this shot of the Nav as I love it's foresight when it shows how difficult the corners are about to get along the way. ![]() There was a lodge at the peak of the mountain, It's funny this high up and this seemed the most groomed and prepared area. I found out later that there's a little village up here to keep the lodge going even when the road to the place can be very hazardess.

| ![]() Returning down the mountian I headed north along the 280 route. It was fantastic to get the chains off and then instantly be on some very fun twistie roads without all the slidey stuff. ![]() Then headed west onto a boaring plato and toward Fresno for a cheap nights luxury. I mean warm bed and adult swim.
