I then headed to LA for the end of the week and met some guys from an SLk Forum, Pics posted in another thread. Since then I've been hanging out in my friends house in Santa Barbara. Love it in this area, Very comfortable weather and great food and bars. Be sad to leave.

I've been staying in Santa Barbara for the previous few days and the mountain roads here are just delightful to drive in the SLK. Smooth, very twistie and amazing scenery.

I had a trip up to the danish town of solvang, the scenery between Santa Barbara and there made for a perfect day out.

I found an old road that had been by passed by this great bridge. I'm glad I didn't miss this road as It wound up around a gorgeous canyon.

Returning from Solvang driving over the hills and a most delighful view of the ocean and spotted islands off the california coast.

Nice double rainbow. Careful with the power wash. Don't want to crack any more lenses. Next stop: San Luis Obispo/Hearst Castle. Further north: Carmel by the Sea, Monterey Bay and the aquarium.

Lot of twisties on Hwy 1 going north, with cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

Did an amazing drive today, Went over a slow mountain road in the Santa Barbara hills, then back through the valley and down route 33. Which I thought was one of the best roads I've ever been on in my life. Fantastic days driving.

well I did 166 then down 101, but then onto 154 and then onto a mountian road called gibralta. well that but backwards. if anyone fancies this this weekend it's bloody awesome. probably 250miles. but includes a bit of everything. The mountain stuff is a little bumpy sometimes, but not so bad and the view will blow you away.

I just drew this in google earth. If anyone uses it in the area you can see the route. i'll attach the kmz file. may need to rename the .txt to .kmz?

I just got to get caught up with your adventure.

Solvang was always a cool trip to make. I nice drive to a nice secluded get away!

And eddy is right! Hearst Castle and the surrounding area is a must!! It kind of reminds me of King Ludwig II's Linderhof.

That's the big ? As you travel north out of so cal, do you bypass the ocean and hit places like Kings Canyon, Sequoya, Yosemite, Tahoe, Delta, etc... Thats before or even to San Fransico.

Brian -- highway one up the coast to Hearst Castle is good from there up to San Fransisco its good also -- thought you said you came down that way before Santa Barbara -- been enjoying your pic's -- ride looks neat when clean -- not to shabby when dirty either

You might want to stop in at Muir Woods just across the Golden Gate since you'll be right there. It is just a short drive from San Fran.
