Doesn't apply to everyone, just more common in Aians as compared to Caucasians. I've seen Asian guys and gals who handle alcohol better than other regions. Just not my liver I guess, .

Stainless Steel Drunk Handle.

Honestly speaking, it's alcohol dehydrogenase deficiency.

technically, the term 'oriental' is outdated...probably better to say Asians.

I think there is a road closer to the cost of Oregon (but it has been a long time since I was over that way). Of course, once you are in Seattle, there is beautiful scenery and driving along the coast from Vancouver north up to Whistler. That Vancouver area is very scenic, but lookout for falling rocks. :-)
Colorado and north of vancouver is probably not a good idea this time of year with an SLK unless you want to test your drifting techniques.

It's not only outdated but offensive to most people, oriental applies to things like rugs, carpets, etc.. not people. It's not PC to call someone oriental although the UK still does it.

Don't worry about it mate, it's generally obvious by the context if people are being insulting. I'm sure most things are Anti-PC as judge by someone somewhere.

Hey, looks like I'm starting this epic journey tomo. All my things are stored and hopefully I'll be packing the slk with my worldly belongings and racing the sun into the Wild West!! Going to use my dogly powers to rename this thread to something a little more positive.

You're probably exactly right about that. I didn't even THINK about the time of year. I wouldn't be surprised though if the Vancouver road to Whistler is kept open for the skiers. I have only traveled out West during the summer so I don't know.

Still, sliding might be fun

Just found so fofo coffee shop in colorado to logon.

I headed off pretty late and had my foot down because the navy said 1:30. and I new lakeside would be freezing at that time to set-up. Anyhow helped by harldy any traffic west of ft worth in texas i made good time. Along I30 onto I20, through albilene and then north west to lubbock then on over the boarder into new mexico. go to the campsite about 9:45 aided by -1 hour time saving the navy doesn't account for. Daym it was so dark and nobody else camping I couldn't see anything. I drove down some dirt road and found the lake. then backed off a little and set-up tent. Was a very peaceful night, just a few duck noises and nothing to think I was part of a horrow flick. Anyhow woke to find it pretty cold and realised I'd left one of the zips fully open on the tent. wasn't so bad. The whole fly sheet was iced up it was very chilly outside. glad i had all my cold gear while taking the tent down. Then I tried to find the office to find my fee's and everything was closed up. So stuck $10 in the ofice box and on my way. Drove across toward alberqirky thismorning and up a gorgeous mountain called sandia. Awesome, Then west on the 40 and north on Route 666 into a total whiteout of snow. Well what did I expect with that road name? Anyhow in cortex, colarado now. It's snowing really hard so think I'll find a cheapo B&B as the campsite was closed and I don't fancy getting my gear to wet anyhow...

Sounds like a blast. It sounds like your hitting the archaeological sites. The only thing near Cortez is the Canyon of the Ancients.

Daym, after I posted that last thread I had a 15mile journey over a hill to cortez and it dropped a load of snow on the roads. No street lighting and I could hardly see anything. Very sketchy car to drive in the snow.

ANyhow made it to the hotel. Need to post some piccies so far but the advertised free wifi is not so good.

"On top of the world" Well thats what the place on the navy said. 7200ft, to the left the snow whitey i was about to drive in. THis is route "666" NW New mexico.

"As is calmed" I got a little confidence to grab the cam and take a shot. Not nice driving in the SLK.

"Freaky Triangle" When I got to the hotel this ice triangle formed on the bonnet. Is this because I'm still on Route 666?

Easty,

It just occurred to me. Did you change those tires to winter ones? The regular tires aren't supposed to be run in less than 45 degrees. I think they lose grip at lower temps.

Looks like a nice adventure :-) Be careful on those mountain roads...
