| Al The new63 has a certain fascination for me but I was disappointed in its acceleration times --- I think the new MCT trans has promise hope they get it up to handling the v-12 torque if that happens maybe we will get one later on.

| The acceleration is good every one bit, recent test shows that it actually does it in 4.2 seconds rather than 4.6. Its a marketing trick to not confuse potential 65 series buyers from the 63 because the margin in pricing is significant.

| Nice bark from the stock exhaust - I just can't help thinking how much better that engine'd do in a several hundred pound light SLK .

| Al -- I read that it did the 4.2 time and was surprised when they said 4.6 I agree that Merc tends to understate this so they can sell the 65AMG. I believe they did the same with the new 550 as mine seems to be able to hit the low 5's and at times the high 4's I still believe that it is the transmission that helps a great deal in the performance area and think it would be great in the SLK's and my 550 with the new launch mode and limited slip diff you would be able to come off the line at a suitable rpm to put the car in the proper torque range. Haven't been able to see one over here they should be in this month. Has anybody actually drove one --- would like to hear from you if you have

| In America its cheaper than europe and the rest of the world over here a loaded 030 with carbon bits costs 200,000 usd for a 63 AMG SL.

| Im not sure about the 030 performance package on an SL63, its just not worth it considering its costs 8,000 sterling pounds for just an LSD, thicker steering wheel and other bits of pieces. I dont like the look of distronic to the grill, it looks to plasticy so that will also be an option I wouldnt consider. There is the AMG carbon exterior kit, it might look good to people who want to extensively change their cars exterior but it looks too fast and the furious racer for my liking, now for the interior I wouldnt mind some carbon fiber. In conclusion I cannot justify the Performance Package which "features a more aggressive tuning of the Active Body Control (ABC) suspension system; a torque-sensing limited-slip differential; and bigger front brake rotors, up in diameter from an already monstrous 14.2 inches to 15.4. The package will likely cost about $14,000" on a Euro spec car but on the U.S models which is significantly cheaper I guess its an option that will sound more reasonable in terms of overall price.

| I think when I did a price check on the SL63AMG loaded it was about 145K USD thats the reason that we will wait and get a used one. saw a one year old SL65AMG with 13,000 miles was 108K USD the guy took a big hit it cost him about 100K USD for 13K miles.

| Gene there are 05's and 06 SL65 with fewer miles between $ 84,000-100,000. Mileage around 5,000-8,000 miles that is.
