Wink SL v Mustang

Last wed took a cruise down the PCH to Cambria was getting dark so took a local road east to pick up the I-5. This car had been following me for about 25 miles when out in the middle of nowhere there was a light controlled intersection --- car pulls to the right of me and I see its a Stang --- light turns green and he takes off jumps about a half a car length before I respond --- over took him before we got across the intersection --- and then all he saw was tail lights ---- I shut down at 100 MPH and he was way back there. About ten miles later I slowed and stopped to take a turn onto the interstate well he passed us there and all I could tell was that it was new with no plate --- wish I could say that it was a super model --- but was probably a V-6.
Any how it was fun.

The thing with Mustangs is you never know what you're going to get *L*. It could be a ragged out looking fox body than runs 10's, or a V6 model kitted out to look like a Cobra, or anything in between. But they always seem to be up for a run - congrats on the win!

They are also cheap to mod, almost brought one awhile back, just to mod the hell out of it. The shelby GT500 doesn't look bad either.

I noticed. Most challengers are mustangs.

Also the cheap to mod part is amazingly true.

Friend of mine has a 2003 svt cobra mustang.. (aka the shelby, they just basically renamed them shelby or gt500, but its really just an svt mustang now renamed for sales).

Anyway stock its like 400, and with a couple of mods and tweaking, he is up at about 600hp without spending 5k!

I know, that's very depressing, $5K isn't enough to get you headers and an exhaust system for the SLK.

ya and it was mostly software and dyno pulls. Think he added a full exhaust, a bigger clutch to handle everything, intake and such. Just things that require more of with more horsepower. Really no "performance parts", besides ecu's and flashes, and lots of tuning on the dyno. He spent like a whole weekend there, and i think half of his cost was spent there. *Its like 100 bux a pull here cuz there are none around*

he probably swapped the blower pulley on it for a smaller one too. Biggest problem with Mustang is it can be challenge to successfully launch it and do the 2-3 shift with out having the backend break loose.

Default SLK 320 VS Maserati

I was going home last Thursday in my 2001 SLK 320 and a pretty blue 2002 or 2003 Maserati Spyder came up to the light next to me. Of course I had to know so I floored the SLK and I heard this beautiful roar come form the Maserati and we were neck in neck up to 80 mph and then had to stop with the little piggies everywhere. Anyone know what is in that Maserati V-6, V-8???? It sounded magnificent. The thrill of the feel...........Mercedes.
