Default Tires for more grip

How big can I go in the front and rear in-terms of tires, I was thinking of changing my tires if I can get lighter wheel's.

I am looking for a tire with a strong hookup "grip" so that the car doesnt shake like Shakira in the video clip of hips dont lie
What I mean is that I would like to hear your comments on better tires for the SLK because the tires that come from the factory are tiny.

If you don't care about the mileage, I would go for the Pirelli Zero Nero system... if you care, the Falken Azenis RTS 615

Between those two, there are the Goodyear F1 GS D3 or even the Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar. http://www.geminicarcare.com/gemini/...ea=Performance

When I will change mine (end of year), I will go for the Goodyear F1 GS D3.... Belgium is far too wet for the Falkens and my wallet too thin for the Pirellis

235 front and 265 rears for most brands. You might be able to go 275 with Toyo's and or Nitto's since they have thinner sidewalls. Michellin PS2's are great tires that has plenty of grip but are the most expenesive.

You can aslo go all out and get some R-compounds like Toxo Proces RA1 (very popular with high hp corvettes and vipers), Yokohoma AO48 (I use them on my 300hp elise, car and driver got 1.06G on skidpad on them), or Michelin Pilot Cups (the race version of PS2, popular with high hp turbo porsches). These tires will probably only last 5-10k miles though.

Wish I could get 10k. just had rosso' s and ES100 yokomama's so far and done 5k on them both. ES100 were far above and beyond the Pirelis on this car.

I have Goodyear GS-D3's on my SLK and I love them, I actually had the dealer swap them off of my old C55 when I changed cars I loved them that much. The combined mileage between the two cars is about 7,000 on the tires and they have a ton of tread left. My P-Zero's lasted about 7,500, I think the Goodyears handle better and are much quieter.

I run an SLK350 in SCCA, MBCA and other programs. My competition tires are Kumho V710 245/45/17 in front and 275/40/17 rear. With stock offset front wheels you'll need a 5 mm spacer to clear the suspension. You're running a 55 with 18 inch wheels so the widths should work, but with a lower profile. Keep in mind some manufacturer's 245s are wider than others.
With this tire combination the SLK350 seems to be the most nimble 'stock' Mercedes made.
