Default SLK 350 Brake Discs upgrade

Guys,

As I have many problems with the brakes on my car (SLK 350), especially with the rear discs (as I drive pretty hard, the overheat) and after overheating they get little bit twisted and my car starts shaking while braking...I got my first pair of rear discs on my guarantee, but they didn't want to give me the second one when they twisted again after couple tousands km...
I also changed my first pair of front discs when I had around 35.000 km...
Now, my brakes are worn (both pads and discs, especially the rear ones), my car is shaking hard while braking and so on...
As I am about to do the service D (I have 49000 km now) actually tomorrow, would you suggest again putting the original new rear discs (they will overheat and twist again and start shaking) or would it be clever to buy the aftermarket discs (and maybe the pads too)
So, I went to http://www.brembo.com/CatalogoHP/Tem...=NoModifyGuest
and everything I found was this pair of discs but for the SLK 280, would they fit onto my 350?
DanSlk, do 350 and 280 have originally the same rear discs?
Do you know some good aftermarket discs (better than original ones) which I can put without changing the calipers and anything else...
I don't want to invest that much to change calipers and other stuff...
I would maybe put aftermarket pads with the discs if they fit in the original calipers and are better than originals...

Thanx...

Hi,
how the hell are you driving? My 350 has only got new pads on the front axle.

I would say forget the 280 stuff, it's only an upgrade to the 350 brakes. At least in Germany there is a sport package available for the 200 and 280 which includes the 350 brakes. And these are the best after the AMGs.

I guess you can read and understand a little German, so look here (upgrade to AMG brakes):
http://www.mbslk.de/modules.php?&nam...=21431&forum=4
http://www.mbslk.de/modules.php?op=m...eiben%20Brembo

On the other hand, let's wait for Dan's opinion.

After two and a half years frequenting the various MB forums, your SLK 350 brake situation is unique. Plenty of others drive their SLKs hard, even track them and no similar occurrences. I wouldn't spend extra for upgraded brakes, the SLK 350 brake system is a good one. Don't have an answer.

Hmmm, interesting...
What other reason could be that my discs damage and my car shakes?
Maybe they put some low quality discs onto my car in the service...? And the rear discs damage badly, they shake the car, and the front discs that I changed had little cracks around the drills...
Really don't know...I hope Dan will answer something...

Never heard that one before, i'd try the 350 parts again but change the disks and pads.

Out of curiosity - are you using the emergency (parking?) brake when your brakes are still hot?

Good question. That would be my guess.

The problem could be compounded if you drive, then park using e-brake and wash the car. Give your rotors time to cool before applying the e-brake. Also, give them time to cool before washing. Otherwise, you will experience warping.

Of course, none of this explains why your rears are wearing so fast. It should be that your fronts wear nearly twice as fast as your rears, not the other way around.

Nah, I really rarely use the parking brake...
And when I wash my car, my car is cold enough, and the brakes too...
I'm not saying that my rear discs and pads are wearing faster than fronts (pads not, I changed I think 3 pair of front pads and this will be second rear pads (if I remember well) I'm not saying that my rear discs got worn, they get kinda broken, cause they twist, probably beacuse of the heat. When they changed my rear discs under the warranty once, my car started shaking after 5-6000 kms...so those discs didn't get worn, they got twisted...if you understand what I mean...
Front discs and pads are ok, I changed the discs at about 30-35000 km, I change pads every 17-18000 km, that's ok, no shaking, everything's ok...
