Default I want to swap my engine with AMG? please help...

Mant times in my posts I have talked about the taxes in my country. I have slk 200 (2005) and also mom has e 200 (2006). Of course I want a SLK 55 AMG but it is like a dream to me. I want more power, with kleeman kit it seems I can see 245 hp with my car but I want more. SLK 55 AMG is like 140.000 Euros here. As all the 55 AMG engines are the same is it possible and also cheaper to swap engines with one of them? R170 32 AMG sounds also great to me too yearly taxes will be less... I can raise 20.000 Euros for the job in Istanbul and maybe a few more. I can buy an old 2170 32 AMG and swap engines with that or an old ML 55 AMG. So what do you think is it possible, and if it is how?

Its really not as simple as it sounds your going to need extensive mods to the engine bay to fit the engine in your going to need a new gearbox also you would need chassis re-enforcement there would be loads to do to the car even your drive shaft will need work.

Unfortunately all the 55 AMG engines are not the same to get one that would work with an SLK electrical system you would need a 113.989 and guess where the only place you can find that is and the 7G is going to be hard to find also and even harder to wire up.

I don't mean to sound all negative but speaking as a tech this just is not going to happen without serious financial backing and even if you can get the engine to fit and run its not going to be a 55 there is so much more than just a different engine.

Save up man and buy the real thing.

There is no way this will work. Is the SLK55 really 140k Euros there? I find it hard to believe, thats more than double of the US price! If it is indeed that expensive, just buy a used one in the USA (55k) and ship it across the Atlantic.

Well thats not strictly true but your about 90% correct not sure if shipping it is a good idea it will have to be made to comply with local regs and thats gonna cost a bomb in itself

When we did the factory tour, the guide told us that although it looks the same, the entire front end of the SLK55 is made of heavier gauge steel for additional strength.

Time to move on. The word is (DansSLK) the swap is not feasible. Too much involve, too expensive, plus you would have ongoing problems for the life of the car. I wouldn't even want to contemplate what's involved. Work with what you have. Good luck.

Not hard to believe, places like Thailand, Singapore, etc, pays that plus more for the SLK55. Taxes are up to 300%, ridiculous.

you mean the front end on the US market or Uk market? can anyone confirm this? quite interesting. Can a non-US non-UK member read the weights on the door tag and see how much more do they weigh?

Well guys, I knew it was impossible. Even if it is possible, it is impossible for me to pay 9000 $ tax every year plus 5000 $ for insurance. Under 1800 cc yearly tax of my SLK 200 is 700 $. I like it that way
