| Hmmmmm. It should, at least at WOT. Also, you should hear a bit more rumble and pop as you decelerate.

| Can't wait to hear it in person tomorrow Looks better made than OEM with reinforcement tabs. Very COOL, I mean HOT.

| The stock resonator actually looked like a pretty efficient piece when I removed mine. It's a straight through design and isn't any real restriction to exhaust flow IMO. It's just too damn quiet!

| The first time I looked at your pic, I thought something was wierd. Well, after a little research, I think I found the problem. I believe you simply got the SS resonator and NOT the xpipe. Pic and link attached. http://www.supersprintna.com/categor...ategory_id/139

| I was thinking about that after the post, i.e., same manufacturer. Thank you for that.

you're right! that ticks me off, i took the carlsson rep's word that this was the right part (and part number) instead of indentifying it myself. i can only hope that i get a performance boost or else i'll have wasted a lot of money. | |

| Sorry about that Scott. I hope you do see a performance increase or perhaps he can order the correct part and swap it out at no cost to you. It appears as though the Xpipe is cheaper than the resonator so he should do it especially if they made the error. If he doesn't, maybe you write a letter to the company. They should step up and right their wrong. Best of luck.

| I echo dsb's opinion. You did ask them for the "X-pipe " when you ordered and not the one with the resonator box. They should swap it out at no cost to you and better yet, refund the difference (test on their customer service). It might help to tell them you know of at least 3 other guys that may be considering the X-pipe and that we're looking at your ride as the reference. (You can use my name) This may give you some leverage. As an afterthought, perhaps ask forum members (by posting your questions) that have done this before and get the part no. and references. This forum does save you time, effort and money.

| thanks, and i wish it were that simple, but it really is my fault. i emailed the carlsson rep (ralph) asking about their x pipe and california distributor. his response was: Scott, Thanks for you inquiry. Carlsson produces a center silencer for the SLK55 which replaces the resonators. I am not sure if this is the same item you are referring to as an "X Pipe" Part# 18350140 MSRP $1,100 Our California Dealer is Ron's Tire and Wheel 12830 Sherman Way Blvd North Hollywood, CA 91605 818 764 1560 Let me know if you have any additional questions. Thanks, RALPH ZORRILLA GGI EUROPEAN TUNING CARLSSON - HARTGE - SPORTEC 305 717 3133 WWW.GGITUNING.COM ralph's answer should have told me to look further into it. he never referred to it as an x pipe and the term, "center silencer" should have been a clue to me. bottom line is that it's my fault and i've learned from it (and i'm over it now). hopefully there will be a performance gain in there. i just won't be able to join the loud cars club! |

| Sorry for the mix up it would certainly make me upset but by now you have had a chance to run today to hear and feel if there is a difference. Just took a look under Cruzer and the factory X is behind where the missing resonators were and is a very short X maybe a longer smoother one is in the future, but we are happy with it for now.

| well, after a little impromptu "$hit or git" run this morning, i'm actually ok with the new resonator. i'd like to tell you that i felt a performance gain, but i can't. if there were any changes in performance they were invisible today. i found a couple of chances to stand on the throttle and the exhaust seems to have a deeper, louder note than before as the revs get up there. so at least for now, the carlsson resonator stays. |
