Default Clear Corner.... No Bulb!!

So I decided to order the clear corners for my slk 55 2005 model and i read all the posts on how to install them, so i decided to give it a shot.... to my dismay i noticed that my corners aren't functioning corners and that they are just for looks??!! i removed the inner wheel plastic cover and i can see in behind where the lens are and i see a big hole where a light bulb would have gone. i checked both sides and they are both like that. i reached my hand in side to see if the wires are around somewhere and there is nothing to be found. I'm wondering if my year or the fact that i'm in canada has something to do with it. I bought her used but it was orginally sold at the local mb dealer here 10 minutes from my house where i took it in a few weeks ago for a routine oil change.

was this an option of some sort?

has anyone noticed this before?

well i guess i have a set of clears for sale now!! $40 plus 7 to ship if anyone is interested. Pm me.

That's odd. Perhaps check with the local MB dealer to see if this is a Canadian spec.

If the wiring and plastic bulb holder/housing is loose (i.e., someone forgot to install them but left them hanging), it should be hanging towards the center of the vehicle probably around the same plane/depth as the inner surface of the tires or even deeper. Use a flashlight to look around. Have someone also look from the top (from engine compartment with a flash light) as the wire harness to the side markers come off from the wire harness going to the headlamps. Hopefully it's there somewhere.

I remember letting go of the wire harness and plastic bulb holder while doing mine (previous 280) and it took some "fishing" to find it. Now I'm careful to tie a twine loosely on the wire before removing the bulb holder, so when I let go, all I have to do is pull on the twine.

Perhaps other owners in Canada can chime in. Are the side markers functional? (i.e. lights up).

Here's a photo of front wheel well area with the person leaning from the front of the vehicle and looking down from the engine compartment:
The wire harness leading to the side marker leads downward towards the top right of the pix...

Cool! Very glad to hear.
Don't forget to do the aluminum foil trick to cover the holes at the clear side markers.
