| I must be blind or dumb... or both cause i've read every possible post on green filter install and that its basically easy , but I don't have a clue how to do it in my slk55. basically i've taken off the air hose tube thats connected to the front of the car, and i've removed the front engine cover part. (the part that has the mb logo on it) i know exactly where the filter goes in cause i can see it once i removed the air pipe. .... but how the heck do you remove those 8 screws that are installed underneath. i can barely put my finger on some of them never mind a torx driver.... or am i seeing this wrong. does anyone have pics or a step by step.... because i'm stuck at trying to take out the screws.... if those are even the screws to take off. |

| Hey brother, its not a problem at all then again were here to help each other at the end of the day. Have fun and enjoy the slk for me will you. If you put it in N and slightly hit the throttle, you'll hear the filters working with a sucking like sound " chakuk "and it sounds very good especially with the top down. Not only that it sounds good but also improves mpg and adds a couple of horses for you to enjoy and lasts longer than the oem filters which are basically the same on the 500 v8's and on our improved and faster 55's so changing them makes a marginal difference. Enjoy it and good luck with the install. ![]()

| I finally installed my Green filter after the service A. It did take me one hour because I spent half an hour running to Home Depot to get the Torx screwdriver because I lost the Torx bit I used to have. I can tell you that after the Greens, I felt the throttle less restrictive (less tight). |

| Very helpful! I would like to buy the green filter for the SLK 55, but not sure where can I find them, I head people say that you can buy them here at SLK world but not sure where? I remember seeing the link once before but I dont see it anymore. Can someone send me a link where I can buy them in US? BTW Alroumi that link was very helpful, that was exactly what I was looking for, now I feel more comfortable buying the green filters. Eri Also how many filters do you need, only one? I remember when I saw the green filters on SLK world they said that you need two... Any reason why you need two? Also do they have some model # so I will know what I am getting? |

On the SLK 55, there's a plastic tie at the back of the airbox that holds a protected wire harness. Make sure you have some 12inch plastic ties handy. 1. Remove the two rounded air ducts first. Each duct leads to an air filter on their respective side. Ergo, you need two air filters. 2. Then the front decorative piece. Be careful to lift the front just enough to release the front clip, then the side slowly upward or risk breaking the side clips, then slide towards front of vehicle by an inch or two. 3. Carefully cut the plastic tie at the rear of the remaining air box. 4. Lift the main air box upward (held down by 4 clips). Follow the instructions on the link above to remove the air filters. Don't forget to place a new plastic tie to secure the rear wire harness.

Make sure before you snug (zip) the cable tie around the harness housing (looks like a hose) and through the anchoring clip above the rear of the manifold that you have the "loose tail" pointing up. This will make it easier to cut off the excess as well as to remove it the next time you go to clean the filters. I recommend cleaning the airboxes of debris every 2,500 to 3,000 miles. More often if you live in an area with a lot of deciduous debris on the streets that can get sucked in and restrict air flow. Don't forget to tell the MB dealership NOT to replace your lifetime Greens at regular service intervals. That would be a waste and make you very angry. ![]()

| You need a quantity of 2 filters. $100 total seems about right. Actually, a few bucks less than I paid for two.
