| So, just wanna share my full experience with SKN ECU tuning and K&N filters... I made that ECU upgrade (18 HP and 20 Nm on paper, Vmax limiter removing), installed K&N filters and here's what I got... The car is SLK 350, 6 speed manual... Top speed is 267 km/h (rev limiter is touching the red, I think it would go really into the red but didn't want to try it, 267 km/h was at cca 6400 RPM - as I know the rev limiter in other gears is at 6200 RPM), so I released the throttle when it touched 6400, first red dash on the instrument. I have to say that I measured that speed with my HP Ipaq GPS, as my tacho has numbers up to 260... (when I am driving 200 km/h on tacho, GPS shows 196 km/h, so it is really not cheating)... I also have to say that I really felt the difference in my car's acceleration, it si noticable, especially in the first few days after tuning, till you don't get used to it... And one really great thing is that my car's fuel consumption is much better, I would say 1,5 liters/100 km less, (as my SLK is 2004, November, maybe it had some old, not enough developed software in ECU, but the fuel consumption was terrible, 17,18 l/100 km, horrible. Now, when I am pushing really hard, it comes up to 17, and just a little bit of normal driving puts it to 15. If I am driving carefully in the town, it is not more than 14. A am talking about fule consumption in the city...went to highway just to try my top speed. I have to try it on some open roads too... So, the bottom line would be - in my opinion, that ECU upgrade is really worth every cent. I would recommend it to everyone!!! |

| I've done ecu upgrades on two of my cars, it will be even faster if you run on a higher octane grade of petrol, I am currently running on the best which is 98 octane ultra super unleaded which I can find in a petrol station 1km from my house. I am glad that you are enjoying your car now, you should def look at the Mercedes-Benz Sports package Airbox which increases the overall flow of air into your car making it breather better and increase performance marginally. An exhaust system would dop you great especially if you have sport catalytic converters to increase exhaust flow making the car less restrictive. Good luck with the performance modifications.
