Default SLK55 Xpipe installed

Here's a little clip. I changed out my resonator for an Xpipe. Enjoy.

Congradulations, it seems that you finally made your choice. It sounds spectacular and I am in total awe just listening to it.

Amazing!

How much does it change the noise in the car when just cruising around town. Also is there a drone when on interstate?

Did you get the SuperSprint unit?

I was the first member to get the SuperSprint/Carlsson unit, basically a guinea pig as my car was the tester.

Do a search on youtube under "MeanMachineQ8" for 2 videos of my car with the Kleemann 200 cell 3" sport primary catalytics and with the SuperSprint/Carlsson X pipe.

Thanks for the compliments! I wanted to record various clips to give everyone the total effect.

Okay, so here's the deal. First, I looked into the costly Supersprint X-pipe. However, I work in the mortgage industry which is a bit lacking at the time. In the spirit of keeping costs down, I decided to hold off for now on any mods. Then I heard a couple members 55's that replaced the resonator with straight pipes. All of a sudden, my 55 sounded weak. The straight pipes sounded good but was a bit too loud. I thought the Xpipe would be a good compromise. Hearing Alroumi's car helped seal the deal.

I ultimately decided to save hundreds of dollars by purchasing a Magnaflow unit instead. Installed, it cost about $180.

It sounds great plus it only comes alive when I want. That means I can drive regularly without anyone noticing a difference. Or, I can put my foot down where its quite clear something's changed.

Cruising around, there is no drone. There is only a very slight hum if you're traveling 50-70 and lightly accelerate. Yet, it is not intrusive at all. I highly recommend it.

DSB, I also want to replace my resonator with an X-pipe. Do you have a part # for this magnaflow X-pipe? I can't find it on their website...

P.S. Do you feel any difference in throttle response or power?

X pipe's in general are a good application for supercharged cars in general, I am not sure it either helps keep the torque up or not lose that much back pressure.

It's their universal Xpipe. I can't remember if it's the 2.5" (model# 10791) or the 2.25" (model# 10790). I called a local muffler shop that had both in stock so that made it simple. I just went there and they installed whichever one fit right. I glanced at the invoice but it only reads Magnaflow and doesn't mention which model number.

I'd like to say I noticed a difference in power but I'm really not sure. It was more about sound quality than power increase. Well worth it IMO. No difference in throttle response. If you want that, maybe get a Sprintbooster. I know they're controversial but it does make a significant difference. I don't have one but drove CJ's car. It was night and day compared to mine. I might get one in the future but I'm trying to take it slow with the mods.

I had it installed in Sacramento. The shop was Muffler Tech off Madison ave. I think any decent shop can pull it off. 4 quick cuts and a bit of welding.

i don't beleive the 350s will benefit from an Xpipe due to their exhaust design.

Thanks fellas...

I do like the extra volume. Makes it a bit more aggressive especially when I decelerate in M mode coming to a stop.

Now I need to get some more videos and pics together before the weather turns. Not much time left.
