| I want to dyno the car when it gets to 2k miles before I start adding things like the greens, etc. What type of dyno here in the states should I be looking for, and the quirks of dyno equipment? Is there anything I need to do except enable engineering mode beforehand? -Doug |

| Around 300 to the wheels, you should try both 3rd gear and 4th gear attempts.

| No problem hope you exceed 300hp, I am betting around 302hp to the wheels.

| it should be in 4th gear. I don't know why you would try 3rd ... Also in terms of the Dyno place make sure they have a LARGE fan and plan on using this same place over and over. No point in switching between dyno shops. if you do the different dynos and also different configurations will make them totally inaccurate against each other. If you are on a Dynojet my pick is 300 rwhp. |

| I tried 3rd and 4th. Just run 4th. Much smoother curve as 3rd went by really quick and kindof spiked. So 3rd had a higher number but then fell off. I sortof wished I had pulled the airbox off on one of the runs to see how much difference it made as I am sure the box was really hot. |

| I was thinking about bringing the greens with me and install them while on/at the dyno. I haven't installed them before, does that sound realistic? |

I would practice installing it first at home, so you'll know what tool is needed, and how to do it beforehand. When you are there, you will not waste anyone's time. It's really simple, can be done quickly. Good luck.

| Just watch out if you remove the airbox, its really not recommended to run the engine without it we even use them on the test stands that are fully air-conditioned. Doug, if i where you mate i would only do the install at ambient temp mate while the install is super easy the box gets real hot and contains a lot of rubber parts just like the filters, you might end up damaging something without even touching it from pinched seals and so on.

| There are several types of chassis dyno's out there - "Dynojet" being the most common. Another couple common ones are "Mustang" and "DynoDynamics". Both the latter tend to read lower than Dynojet; doesn't mean the car is making less power, just a characteristic of those dyno types. Another good base line to get while your car is stock, and a good supplement to dyno testing, is to run the car in the 1/4. Trap speed (don't worry about ET so much, that's more a driver dependant item ) are fairly consistent, all else being equal. Re what gear to use, dyno operators like to use the gear that gives (or closest to) 1:1 ratio (has something to do with minimizing built in errors in the way HP is calculated) ,which in the SLK55 is actually 5th gear. But I'm sure your dyno operator will know best what works with his particular setup. I'm also planning to get on the dyno next week if all goes to schedule.
