| Hi all! I have replaced the standard SLK200 rims for 8x17 with 225/45-17 Bridgestones and I have also added 15mm spacers to move the wheels more out. The car is lowered 40mm at the front. In some situations the front wheels are getting in contact with a metal profile which is located at the fender/front spoiler fastening. A sharp edge cuts the tyres so I had to grind the corners of the profile away. I have seen several very low SLKs in this forum with wide tyres. Has anybody had the same problem? |

| i had what sounds to be the same rubbing. i was runnning 235/35/19's up front and when i hit dips at speed, i got the rubbing. i did cut off the sharp tabs inside the wheelwells, so i didn't get any of the cutting. i'm sorry, but i can't tell you the offset of the rims that i had. if you can clear the calipers with thinner spacers or without any spacers, that may be worth a try. good luck! |

| Question, why the spacer? Were you having problems clearing the brake parts? If no, remove the spacers and see if it helps.

| No rubbing problems in the front, but I've seen your SLK, it's very low, might want to raise it a bit, and getting thinner spacers might help, good luck.

| i would say your car is probably just too low as stated by Ynot and Gero. also double check your offset of the wheels, they might eb a bit big. I have 35 profile tyers on front also, and they don't rub ever. mine has 19's lowered on eibach springs. also what mm are your spacers? they could be pushing the rim out just that little bit too much to catch the edge. |

| Hi again! I would gladly loose the front and rear spacers. The problems are that the rim offset is for my previous car, a W203. They are ET35. Buying new rims was more expensive than the spacers. I use 15mm at the front and 25mm at the rear which looks nice I think. The wheels look wider than they are. |

| bejak, spacers are not used for "looking nice." If you have a W203 fitment, they're exactly right. If you have ET35 rims, you need a 5mm spacer up front, and no spacer in the back. You're not even running wide rims/tires, so there should be no rubbing problems when you get the offset right. |

think he is right here ET35 is only needing 5mm at front. a 7 inch wide rmi shoudl not be buffing, as my rears aer 10inch wide and i get very minimal rubbing | |
