Hola, In Bimmer circles there is Dinan (not quite AMG, or Saleen) located in Mountain View CA that does all kinds of work on BMWs. I'm on a quest for more HP out of my (future) 55. Are there any respected tuners of SLK's here in the bay area?

but there are the distributors of Renntech, Kleemann and Brabus out here. No one does the power conversions from Carlsson(way too much money) or Lorinser. For Renntech I would recommend EuroElites ... talk to adam they are the ones that installed my Renntech Supercharger, Finetuned Renntech ECU, Renntech Headers, Renntech Rims, and Carllsson Rims. Great Support and they have an amazing mechanic. For Brabus and Kleemann ... after my research I'd rather send to LA(Brabus) or Colorado (Kleemann) instead of use thier distributor here. PM if you have any questions ... it would be great to roll with another modified SLK55 in the area.

Good info, Thanks! I'll take a roll by EuroElites next week and check the place out and maybe chat with Adam if he's around. I'll have to see if I'm at the mercy of staying stock during the waranty period except for air filters. Wow the parts aren't cheap, guess the admission to the party steps up a but with the wheels your upgading.... .

California has probably the highest concentration of Mercedes tuners in the world, I don't think you would have a problem finding someone to install upgrades for your SLK55. You should check out Renntech, Kleemann, Brabus, Carlsson, etc websites for locations of their distributors in your area.

Thanks for the feedback, A2S. I figured there would be quite a few, but I'm looking for folks that have had their cars worked on at these places. I cringe at the thought of some hacks like Unique Motorsports (have seen them on TV/SpeedTV) poking around in my engine. Word of mouth and personal experience always beats a web link as far as I'm concerned and what I was looking for. (not questioning your reply, honest)

| There are many modifications to look out for, Depends if you want to stick NA route or the FI route. Brabus are highquality but expensive as with other tuners.

Everything works out, I'll have it at the end of the month. Once I've got the paperwork done, I'll order accessories and go for the green filters. I was in San Francisco on the motorcycle this weekend with some friends and saw close to a dozen SLKs of various years and one SLK55. Funny I never really paid much attention to "seeing" them before a few weeks ago. | |

If you saw a pack of touring motorcycles (4 or so) then you may of seen us. we wandered around through the park, then over to the marina near Pier 39 for lunch then up and down through other parts like "Ft Point?" (under the bridge) and home. I only saw 1 silver 55, I don't think that was yours- black, right? Yea, keep me posted on how/where you got the antenna and screen. I'm headed the same way.

Yeah mine was black so that wasn't me. Anyways, I think i'm going to get the screen and antenna from MB dealer. You can take a look at this post while we were discussing the OEM screen and the after market with LED and Engraving on it. I think i am going for the OEM one to be simpler. http://www.slkworld.com/slk-r171-general-discussion/2958-got-my-oem-mb-windscreen-today.html

Oh man! thanks for the heads up! I was wondering about that and was going to request/demand a discount on the accessories. I guess I'll let them think I gave them something when they come back with "we'll give you 10% off, hows that, sir?"

Hey Web, Even though you don't have your SLK55 yet ... you might want to join a bunch of us going up to Sacremento Raceway. IT will be great fun and you will meet a lot of people that love AMG's Ms etc. EuroElites will also be supporting everyone so you can meet them as well.

Thanks for thinking of me! Man, I would be *way* into going. I used to race the 442 every Wed. at Fremont ("Baylands Raceway" for those that remember) on grudge nights. I also trailered it to Sears Point for Muscle Car shootouts for a few years after that. Ironically, I'm going to be east of Sac on Saturday at my nephew's birthday party. Don't think I didn't try to figure out a way to swing going to both! Make a couple of passes for me and count on me being at the next one as soon as the 55 is broken in. Wonder if the bolt pattern on the 55 would match the ones on my old drag slicks.... ;-)

I would recommend getting the OEM windscreen through German dealers that sell on ebay, they still cost less (save at least $100) than what the dealers charge (even with 10% discount from the dealer) after shipping. Check out this link: http://www.slkworld.com/slk-r171-gen...y-germany.html If not, PM OWL-SLK. Here's from a PM Gero (OWL-SLK) sent regarding OEM windscreen: "here is the adress of the mercedes dealer which is offering the windscreens: Mercedes Benz DaimlerChrysler AG OstWestfalenLippe Am Stadtholz 35 33609 Bielefeld Germany. Phone +49-521-3020 Fax +49-521-302590 Mr. Klaus Nagel you just have to tell him that you are send by me (Gero Mertens) then everything will be okay. he is are real nice man." Cruzer 7 got the one with special edition etched on it (cost a little extra) through Gero but I don't know if this is still available. I believe he's (cruzer 7) quite satisfied with the price and service. Hope you guys save a few significant bucks. ![]() Shipping usually takes 2 weeks from Germany.
