| it's time to lower my car and i'm trying to decide between brabus vs. carlsson. the main purpose is for for sportier looks/stance and better handling on the streets but comfortable daily driving. i'm not trying to make it the best handling road-racing machine. >.> both are top brand names and have a lot of history. i think the retail for each is similar-not sure. which would you go with? |

| Hello, both are highly reputable manufacturers and also Tuv certified. If you dont mind saying which variant of the SLK do you have and what are you aiming for Coil over or Lowering Springs? If your main aim is for a lower , sportier stance I highly suggest you to go for H&R springs as they are the sportiest lowering springs available for the SLK R171 when compared to Brabus, Eibach and other manufacturers.

| If you are located in Europe, just get eibach and h&r, don't go for the brand names, they are basically the same products, except premium brands charge premium price.

| Yes, exactly though manufacturers or lets say "Tuners" claim that they are manufactured by Eibach but to their spec's which I think is entirely wrong. Its just another way to grab $ out of people.

| If you really want to have only lowering springs buy at the manufacturers as mentioned obove! If you are located in Europe there are two others: Vogtland (http://www.vogtland.com/) and Weitec (http://www.weitec.de/). Until today I couldn't clarify wheather the springs of my adjustable suspension from Carlsson are made by Eibach or H&R. Both is possible. In my opinion the H&R springs lower the rear axle too much. The Weitecs are quite comfortable. I think the Eibachs are the best.

i hear a couple of people say yea go with the more affordable brands like h&r and eibach but who actually has them? it seems like a lot of lowered slk threads with pics have brabus lowering springs. h&r 'sport spring' 1.2 front 1.2 rear part#29218.2 $439 msrp eibach 'pro-kit' 1.0 front 1.0 rear part#2575.140 $389? msrp carlsson front/rear approx. 35mm part#31350250 $575 msrp brabus ? front ? rear part# 171-006-00 ? msrp no one buys at msrp ofcourse. i think the lowest i've found for eibach is $250 shipped and for brabus $415 shipped. i'm sure the h&r springs are available for a lot cheaper but in terms of brabus vs. carlsson, i'm leaning towards brabus. | If you are looking for cheap springs, formymercedes.com has Schaetz lowering springs for $229, someone over at benzworld.org is trying to sell his intrax springs if anyone is interested.

| You can't, it's not sold here in the US, you can only get brabus, it's eibach renamed with an additional $150 price tag.

| does eibach make springs for brabus? yea. do eibach springs come with the same specifications as 'brabus springs'? i don't think so. i'm not calling eibach some crappy generic spring company or anything like that. they make a lot of quality springs for a wide range of makes and models. but considering brabus is one of the most recognized top 'mercedes-benz' tuners in the world, i would assume the extra $150 or whatever is paying for the r&d, etc. i don't see what's wrong with brabus getting their springs made from a top company like eibach. i'd think that's a good thing. there must be a reason why they're the most popular brand. i called brabus usa/cec wheels to inquire about brabus + eibach spring differences. i recommend anyone to give them a call and ask them for yourselves. the carlsson springs, as well as h&r sport springs, i hear are little more aggressive with ride comfort. also, everywhere i've searched it seems like carlsson costs a lot more than brabus. a number of places seem to sell the eibach pro-kit for the slk r171. maybe it's a special order? tirerack $232, summit racing $289.95, $245.07 (shipped) ajusa, $262.57 stillen. that was from checking out the dealers on the eibach website.
