Hey,

Don't bother with Kleeman in the UK they are bloody useless wouldn't trust them with a bowling ball get a hold of the head office and go there for any work its only a ferry trip away but they are worlds apart when it comes to brains.

The UK outfit is nothing more than a garage.

Guys, you canny drive it. You drive onto a train and ride on the train.

I've not done it but heard it's cool london to paris as a passenger now and comparable to plane. The ferries are a relaxing way to cross, i've done it a couple of times and enjoyed it both.

Out of curiosity, do they chain the car to the boat or train?

No, not any of the times i have been on the ferry and i know for sure they don't on the train.

Hell if any chains came anywhere near my car i would be punching people out.

To be honest its not really all that rough unless you catch it on a bad day

Cheers Dan.......... will check it out

Before i decide if i want to change cars come Sept and as I do like the SLK, i wanted to work out the £'s for upgrading the SLK, preferably keeping a warranty.

Issues i have are finding a company who can own and advice, keep that warranty to some degree, and be priced effectively for what i want. Also need any upgrade to be good for daily (16K miles per year) use.

All this against spending the equity in my car and the extra money on a new car (M6, 996 Turbo / GT3 etc ). Depreciation on a car versus not much back on a moddifiaction

Cheers

Can't drive thru the tunnel??? That defeats the purpose, back to pontoons and an outboard motor. Coarse on the ferry you can sit in the car and pretend to drive..

The Channel Tunnel is brilliant, I have used it a few times. It takes 40 minutes to go aacross. There are shops and restaurant on either side. You are allocated on the first available train if you show up early. You drive directly on the train, there are no chains, you are encouraged not too move around too much ... and .... in no time you are on the other side... just remember that they drive on the other side of the road... eheheheh

Here are a couple of pics...

I am honestly not sure if Kleeman offer a warranty i mean i know they do on the parts they fit but if they replace the MB one that will be void in the UK i don't know.

Is that for the whole car do you know?

Would be typical the parts would get installed and then the COMAND would go wrong and the nice people at the dealer would tell you to shove it

I think its only for the parts, The Mercedes warranty will cover the Command and other OEM equipment.

Well thats the thing see not in the UK the warranty is one whole pack.

Say you replace a speaker on your TV then the Panel breaks you have not done a thing to it but once the case has been opened the warranty is gone same on the cars in the UK since we have less stringent laws regarding customer protection

In the USA, under Magnuson-Moss Act of 1975, the dealer must prove that the aftermarket part caused the need for repairs before they can deny warranty. So if your AC broke for example, they wouldn't be able to prove that a kleemann kompressor caused it to break, so they can't deny warranty. On the other hand, if your engine blows up, you might be out of luck since its directly connected to your kleemann kompressor and they can prove that additional stress caused it to break.
